My daughter kaylie was born exactly one week early. I started having contractions at 4:30 am and didnt get to the hospital until 8:30 am. When i went in, i was 5 cm dialated and my contractions were 1-2 in apart. I wasnt able to get my epidural until 10:30 am and was 8 cm dialated. Before they gave me my epidural, her heart rate was about 180 and they said i needed to have a c-section...

I am a mother that knows the grief of losing an infant to prematurity and the mother that knows the fear and stress of watching your infants in the NICU for weeks on end. Brooke was our first born, the daughter I always wanted to put bows in her hair and pretty little dresses on. Brooke wears her angel wings now after losing the battle to prematurity. Brooke was born at 24 weeks weighing 1 pound 0.5 ounces and 10 1/2 inches long. She passed at birth on 8/3/06...

Hi: My name is Mimi I am new to this site. I had a little girl @ 31 weeks on Christmas Eve 2009. She was 3lbs 8oz and 17.25".."pretty BIG for her gestation age". We were truly blessed! She of course was intubated for a short 48 hrs and remained in the NICU for 4 weeks...

Rion and his battle with NEC

I am so sorry to hear about your son. My son also got NEC and seems to have to keep battling it, he was born at 25 weeks and at 7 days old he got nec but since then he has gotten it two more times, I don't know when all these NEC flare ups will end and I am terrified. You and your son will be in my prayers I am so sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Rion - none of these babies should suffer. I lost my son, Kellan, to NEC on 3/3/10. He was born at 25 weeks and developed NEC in his 29th week. He was fine on the morning of 3/2/10 and came down with it that afternoon. I've never seen something hit a child so hard... ...
