lily rose

Hi,
I wanted to let you know about our experience this winter. Alexis (her middle name is Rose also!) had bronchiolitis. ( I know I probably mangled the spelling of that) I took her to the ER once because I thought she was not breathing well - she sounded horrible. This was despite the fact that she was receiving the nebulizer treatments. She was on Zopenex...which is similar to Albuterol. They xrayed her lungs, put her on the pulsox, and administered...yes, respiratory treatment!! Albuterol and Pulmicort. Alexis was fine - they sent us home. The RSV swab they took came back negative. It only took about 1 hour for that to come back - but this was at the ER at the hospital. Alexis was on the nebulizer treatments for about 10 weeks this winter. It took forever for her to get rid of her coughs and other questionable sometimes wheezing noises. I don't know what your little Lily's other symptoms are, but this was our experience this winter. Alexis had no other symptoms - good appetite, good mood. Not much retraction when you looked at her chest, no flaring nostrils. (This is excluding her behavior before the nebulizer treatments were started) It took a very long time for her to get over it & I am so happy we are not doing the neb treatments anymore! I imagine the lab should be back to you not as quickly as the hospital - but I would say by Tuesday??!! Please post back with how Lily Rose is doing this weekend...I hope she is feeling better soon!

Lorne, Isaac and Sullivan - triplet boys born at 23 and 26 weeks - now 3 1/2 years old and (thanks to the March of Dimes!!!) running me ragged!

We always had the test done in the ER before an admission and got the results back pretty quickly - I don't know about having it done in the doctor's office how long it might take! Usually 24-48 hours. I would call tomorrow and ask - they should at least be able to give you a time table!

Take care,
Kara

Hope the doctor's appointment went well! The "not RSV" diagnosis is at least part of a relief!

    Take care,
    Kara
