appetite stimulants

Arizona mom - 03:32pm Jun 18, 2007 EST
mom to Chaya, 27 weeker (12-8-05)

Hi all- I was wondering if anyone has any experience to share regarding their children on appetite stimulants. My dtr is 18 mos, 15 adjusted and weighs 16-10. We see GI, who hasn't been very helpful. She is on pediasure and regular foods, but has an extremely poor appetite and isn't taking in enough calories. She is otherwise healthy and happy, developmentally appropriate. We have even seen speech therapy, and they don't feel she has a motor issue or a texture issue- she just has a quantity issue. Her GI keeps mentioning feeding tube, which I am against. So my next thought was appetite stimulant. If anyone has any thoughts to share, I'd love it. Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who responded.

Donna- I will ask the GI when we go again about the periactin- our kids sound very similar- she will eat, just tiny amounts then loses interest. I almost hate to get my hopes up again, but I really hope this is a winner.
