Our Shining Star - Jaclyn

DNASMOM - 08:05pm Sep 18, 2007 EST
Mom to a feeder and grower born June 2004 almost 33 wks 2lb 13 oz.

If you see that Lone star shining bright over Texas, it just might be our newest Shining Star Jaclyn Pham Haynes (LilyGrace’sMom) author of her blog My Phamily

Since Joining Share in May 2006, Jaclyn has added such a creative element here in our community. In one of Jaclyn’s earlier acts of volunteerism, she came up with the novel idea to hold a onesie drive in an effort to ‘give back’ on behalf of those who helped her throughout her NICU journey. In celebration of her daughter Lily Grace’s first birthday, Jaclyn asked all of her friends and family to please donate ‘onesies’ in lieu of birthday gifts for Lily Grace. Her friends and family pulled through for her once again and her onesie drive was a huge success. She and Lily Grace delivered 62 onesies to her local NICU! The Second Annual Hayne’s Phamily ‘Onesie’ drive is currently underway.

Jaclyn, a school teacher, also played a huge part in helping her school achieve top honors in the March of Dimes Reading Champions program last fall. She had the challenging task of grabbing the attention of 700 elementary school students in an assembly to launch the program at her school. Although Jaclyn came prepared with an elementary level speech, it was surely Miss Lily Grace that captured the hearts of the student body that day. More than 50% of the student body participated and within one month they had already raised more than $12,000 for the March of Dimes!!

Her creativity came through once again in her family team fundraising for Walkamerica this past spring. She sent out hundreds of e-mails, auctioned items on E-bay and even got a local restaurant to accept $1.00 off coupons with funds going toward her campaign. The day of the event she came up with the brilliant idea to have her whole team wear bright pink cowboy hats that even grabbed the attention of the local media. Her Walk was successful as she nearly tripled her donations from last year.

If you are lucky enough to be able to attend ShareUnion this year, you will be delighted to know that Jacyln has graciously agreed to ‘Share’ some of her creative ideas with us in the Scrapbooking workshop.

Jaclyn, thank you so much for all you do. You truly are a Shining Star!!
