13 MONTHS AND 16.6 POUNDS

Feb 24, 2008 07:57pm (EST)

I went for the 12 month checkup last Thursday and was completely blown away that my baby girl - Kaylee - was not weighing more than 16.6 pounds. She was born at 39 weeks, weighing in at 5 pounds, 5.4 ounzes. They said she has some premature tendecies.

She is now below the 5th percentile on weight and at the 25th on height and head cir.

The doctor told me to start putting butter in everything. I am not sure that that sounds correct at all. I mean how could that be any good for her heart? She has always been small, I was 4#11oz at birth and have been small all my life. There is not one overweight person in either mine or my husbands' family.

I have just been offering her a variety of foods and still giving formula (next step Enfimil) to ensure that she gets the nutrients that she needs. The doctor told me to stop that and give her whole milk. I do, but that doesn't supplement her reluctance to eat very much at all.

I am really struggling with all of this.....any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
