Please join me in appreciation of our current Shining Star Tracy (Angel Love), author of her blog Angel Love

Tracy seems to have non stop energy and motivation when it comes to volunteering and fundraising for the March of Dimes. Her involvement with the MoD dates back to long before the 2003 birth of her premature twins at 27wks. She has been participating in the annual Walk/March for Babies since she was in high school. When her daughter Taylor passed after just 15 short hours and she watched Taylor’s twin sister Ansley struggle in the NICU for 2 ½ months, she embarked on a much deeper and personal involvement with the March of Dimes.

In 2004, Tracy and her family served as Ambassador family in her community. It was at this point that she asked to join the MFB’s planning committee and now serves as Chairperson of her Chapter’s March for Babies committee. She also pulls double duty as MFB Team captain for the school she teaches at.

One thing that stands out in Tracy’s role as Chairperson, is her continued will and determination to overcome the many obstacles that sometimes go hand in hand with small town fundraising. For instance, this season Tracy must find creative ways to vie for donations and sponsors due to another charity moving their largest fundraiser from the Fall to the Spring. In previous years she has had much success with various fundraisers at her school including a spare change challenge which netted $1,700 in one week! Last year she held a raffle for a donated Polaris 4-wheeler and also teamed up with a local restaurant who donated portions of their sales during certain hours. These creative ideas helped Tracy and her committee exceed their Walk totals for 2007! This year her county goal is $28,000 and I’m sure Tracy will exceed this as well.

She got this March season off to a good start by organizing a MoD Baby Bazaar!! This event which takes place the first week of March, will charge a booth fee to any vendor who would like to participate. She has gotten a great response from vendors such as Creative memories, Tupperware, Home Interiors, etc. who have all agreed to donate 10% of their sales for the day in addition to their booth fee! She also invited Family Teams to participate free of charge to give them the opportunity to raise money for their teams.

Tracy has many great things lined up for this season and often posts about them in the Get Involved section here at Share. We are proud to have her as a member of our own Share Your Story volunteer team and certainly consider her a Shining Star!
