Wanting to try again, but.......Audrie's Mom - 12:04pm Mar 17, 2008 ESTmom to my BEAUTIFUL miracle One year old....Hi all....I have had a previous premature birth with my daughter (28 weeks) who is now 1. My husband and I want to start trying again in the next two months. My question is, I took the DEPO shot in January and have heard several people say that you can't get pregnant for up to one year once you have taken that shot. We don't WANT to wait that long, but if we have to we will. I just want to know so I can know what to tell my Hubby. Has anyone had this shot and gone on to get pregnant before one year had passed??? I hope someone can help me.... Thanks,
--Amie--

Amie, from what I've heard when you get the depo shot that it takes a little longer to conceive. It really just depends on the person but I'd call the nurse at the obgyn and ask. Or you could always do a search through google, that's what I usually do. Good luck in trying and I hope you get preggos soon . Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Donnavie

Re:depo
WARNING: google DEPO!,
I took a Depo shot in May of '05 and it caused me to gain 12 pounds in less than 3 weeks and I bled profusely, I never took the shot again and it took 6 months off of birth control followed by a four month course of Ortho-tri cyclen from june 2006 -October 2006 to correct the bleeding, however Novemeber 17th I had a regular period and found out on December 26, 2007 that I was expecting my second baby, (I am the Mommy of a 34 week Angel due to severe Pre-eclampsia/Eclampsia who died at the age of 7 1/2 months due to issues related to Her prematurity.)
Leonidas Ronald was born Healthy on September 6, 2007 !!

Amie, you should contact your OB and see what their recommendation is in your particular case.

I was on the Depo shot for more than 2 years after my first child. I got off of it and was pregnant within about 5 months... I also have heard it takes some people longer, but it clearly depends on the individual. Best of Luck!
