Pregnant again....Devon51 - 08:40pm Mar 20, 2008 ESTHi everyone, just wanted to share with you all that I'm pregnant again. I shared my story after I lost my daughter at 23 weeks. We got pregnant farely quickly and we reach the 24 week mark tomorrow. Its been hard to speak that outloud, thinking I might jinks this pregnancy by actually admitting it...... but I'm feeling more and more hopeful everyday! We've been closely monitored; ultrasounds every two weeks to check baby and my cervix, and so far so good. We recently found out were having a baby boy, and are thrilled. Though there has been many emotions during this pregnancy; we've definitely continued to grieve our baby girl Libby and recently have started to really embrace this new life that is growing inside of us. It's been rough these past few weeks, getting past the point at which we delivered last time, but like I said, were getting more hopeful everyday. Our baby boy will be named Lyrik Maddon; I'm working at calling him by his name instead of baby. I was only able to call Libby "Libby" for a week and I think I fear that as soon as I name this little one and actually identify him by his name that I'm gonna lose him....I guess its my own fear that comes with bonding with him. I really wanted to share the news......this cite has been wonderful. Eventhough I tend to say silent, I am always reading; reading the stories of heartbreak and stories of hope, I'm always sending my positive thoughts. Devon

shortening cervix: Hey.....wanted to share some stressful news. I went to my ultrasound today (28 weeks) and found out...
Re: shortening cervix
I'm sorry for the drop in your cervical length. Mine dropped two full points in a week too, but I was carrying triplets.
It was probably good to get the steroid shot, I'm guessing they'll give the other one too. Bed rest is is a good thing! I hope that helps. If it comes to the point of needing to go into the hospital for the remainder of your pregnancy, do not worry....you'll be in great hands, and often mag sulfate (IV drip) can slow down labor.
In reference to your 28 week question, yes....medicine usually refers to week 28 as a turning point in the possible outcome of a baby, especially preemies. 23-27 weeks are a very gray area. However, it would be great to see you get as far along as possible. Best wishes on another few months of pregnancy!

thx for your reply.......
I just got the second shot, so I'm happy about that!I'm hoping bedrest will work wonders; its rough lying around anticipating labour....just trying to think positive. He did say bedrest in the hospital could happen; but for now do my best to stay off my feet, lying down. Did you have the mag drip??If so, how was it? I asked him about that, but I'm from Canada and he said that the stats are not significant enough to give it here......so I don't know if that will be an option. He also said it can be very hard on the mothers system, so without significant results that it works, they don't give it. I've heard many success stories from it....who knows. The 17p shot was another option that was very difficult to get in Canada...I find this strange??
Anyways..happy to have the round of shots in me and hopefully working wonders. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragment. I will keep you guys updated.

Re: thx for your reply.......
Yes, I did have mag sulfate for about a week in the hospital. The bonus is that it relaxes your uterus...so it does not contract as much. It also relaxes most of your body, so if feels a little weird, kind of like you are tired, but yet awake. It was really the only option left for me, and thankfully it held Baby A off for 4 days, and Babies B and C off for 6.....every day counts!
Best of luck!
