Cerclage Pain 2 months later

myasmommy - 12:45pm Apr 5, 2008 EST

Hello Everyone,
I became a member of this community during my NICU stay after the birth of my first daughter at 24 weeks. Our little miracle will be 2 next month and is totally healthy
We have decided to try again and I am currently 22 weeks along.
I had a preventative cerclage placed at 13 weeks and was placed on bedrest for 6 weeks after. I am currently on "limited activity" but still spend as much time off my feet as I can.
The problem I am having now is pain at the cerclage sight. It started 3 weeks ago and my doctor assured me it was broad ligament pain. It doesn't feel like broad ligament pain.
The pain is constant now and is pretty severe. It feels like the pain is in my cervix. I'm sure it's the stitch. But as that 24 week marker approaches, I'm not sure if I am being paranoid.
Has anyone else experienced this pain?

I can't say that I had any constant cerclage pain but I did have shooting pains that felt like the baby was stabbing me in the cervix with an ice pick! I don't imagine it is the same thing but thought I would throw it out there just in case.

It started when I was about 34 weeks along and wound up having nothing to do with my cerclage. Apparently it is normal pregnancy stuff and just my son's head pushing down on my cervix. Around 35.5 weeks I was really scared about it so I went to L&D and they removed my stitch. However, I still had the pain and when I got a chance to see my regular OB I was told it was just normal.

I hope that is all yours is, but I would make sure to push the issue with your OB!

Good Luck,
Jackie

I had the same kind of pain that Jackie is describing. But, mine wasn't constant as you are describing. I did have a lot of ligament pain (it seemed much worse to me than ligament pain) and also the shooting pains that Jackie said. Maybe you can push hard for an ultrasound so they can check out the stitch and make sure it is okay. That is my vote. Good luck!
Becca
