GRAYSON

May 22, 2010 03:46pm (EST)

hi, hope someone can help me here. i'm in tears. 3.5 years i'm dealing with my son who has cerebral palsy. don't want to come on here and see blessed healthy preemies. i want to know similar sad stories, to make me feel better about my situation. that others didn't have such a great happy ending. yes, my son is alive, but he can't stand let alone walk. he can feed himself, talk, tell me he loves me, blessings, yes. but, i just can't get over it. my son was 3.5 lbs when he was born at 29 weeks. i just feel like he shouldn't have even been in there. that he could have come home, but b/c my insurance paid for it they kept him on there. shoved in the back, with a cpap on that when i went in to visit was never fitting right, once his machine with the air was broke... i think they suffacated him, or didn't shake him out of an episode on time, which if they sent him home with a heart monitor i could have been there every second of the day with him to shake him out. it's just such a mess, i'm heart broken, depressed, and it's just getting worse by the year that he's getting bigger. i should have demanded to bring him home, but you trust a hospital and what they tell you, right?? besides that the day he was born he was sreaming horribly screaming with all those bells and whistles straped all over him, and trying to climb out of the incubater. horrible vision that i can't shake. i want to take my baby home, i want to go back... please help. anything.

EDEN'S DEDICATION

May 15, 2008 08:45pm (EST)

I've posted alot tonight, but his pretty much brings us up to date. On Sunday, Mother's Day, Eden was dedicated at our church - Rosedale Baptist. It's hard to believe that she will be 8 months old in 10 days. Sometimes it's even harder to believe that I am a mom to three children who were born premature (2 @ 27 wks and 1 @ 33wks). Oh, the comments and remarks I have heard - I could fill a book, but that's for another night. Enjoy seeing our bleesings - and to all the nurses and drs seeing this you're hard work and dedication is never forgotten.

EDEN - FSH NICU GRAD

May 15, 2008 08:00pm (EST)

Eden was born on September 25, 2007 at 8:54 p.m. She weighed 1 pound 14.5 ounces and was 13.5 inches in length. She came 3 months early. We had been down this road before - all three of our children have been in the NICU - Aaron born also at 27 weeks weighed 1 lb 7 oz. and Moriah born at 33 weeks weighed 4 lbs. followed by Eden. Eden was on a ventilator for a week and then cpap and oxygen. She is currently being treating for high blood pressure and reflux. Eden is almost 8 months old and is now 11 lbs 4 oz. She is starting to grab toys, coos and giggles and recently started rolling over from her belly to her back. She hasn't been a stranger to FSH - we recently brought her for a visit and she walked/strolled with the FSH team for the March for Babies.

WELCOME TO THE FRANKLIN SQUARE NICU BLOG!

Apr 30, 2008 12:09pm (EST)

Welcome to the Franklin Square NICU blog! My name is Erica Rimlinger and I am the NICU Family Specialist at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore County, Maryland.

I created this blog at the suggestion of Sara, a Franklin Square NICU nurse who lamented that the nurses wanted to see how their former patients were growing and thriving after they left the NICU. Sure, there was a reunion once a year, but that was ... once a year. And if a family missed the reunion, the NICU staff would just have to wonder how the family was doing or hope the family would bring the baby back for a visit.

In this blog, I hope to create a space where former Franklin Square NICU families can tell stories, post pictures and let us know how you are doing!

So please join, subscribe, post and keep in touch! We'd love to hear from you!

Best,
Erica
