Our Shining Star - Elizabeth

DNASMOM - 02:30pm Jun 18, 2008 EST
Mom to a feeder and grower born June 2004 almost 33 wks 2lb 13 oz.

It is with great pleasure I announce our newest Shining Star Elizabeth (ehbeagle), author of her blog Beagle Pups

The great thing about this folder is being able to introduce you to some pretty amazing volunteers who are truly dedicated to the mission of the March of Dimes. Elizabeth is one such volunteer. In addition to her continued encouragement and support to others here at Share, Elizabeth works tirelessly to raise awareness and make a difference in the fight to save babies.

Elizabeth took the opportunity to make the most of Prematurity Awareness Month (PAM) last November. She not only created a PSA that was aired on her school’s news program, but she took the time to educate two Family Ed classes about the effects of premature birth. She also had 2,000 brochures made explaining PAM which she handed out throughout the month and during MFB season. Her daughter also got involved by helping to make 200 pink & blue Awareness ribbons ,complete with info attached about PAM , which she handed out at her school. She didn’t stop there…..she even had a sign made and placed in her front yard promoting PMA!

She continued raising awareness into 2008 with her MFB Family team “Tucker’s Miracle”. The team consisted of 43 walkers and was sponsored by more than 14 businesses including Krispy Kreme, Kroger & Chick-fil-a. The team held many fundraisers throughout the season including yard sales, BBQ’s, Blue Jeans for Babies day and even a MOD coin collection. Their efforts paid off and Team Tucker’s Miracle brought in a grand total of $5,042!!! Way to go Elizabeth!

Elizabeth takes every opportunity to visit the NICU and drop off Share flyers. Her future plans include joining the NICU Family Support committee.

In appreciation of her hard work and dedication to the mission, Elizabeth will be receiving a specially engraved ‘Share Your Story’ watch courtesy of HourPower watches. If you would like more info on these beautiful watches and would like to order your own, please check out their website HourPower Watches
