Our Shining Star - Shonda

Mom to a feeder and grower born June 2004 almost 33 wks 2lb 13 oz.
It is with great pleasure I announce our newest Shining Star Shonda (2 Here 2 in Heaven), author of her blog 2 Miracles here, 2 angels upstairs
Since joining Share in April, 2006, Shonda has been an exemplary volunteer, providing countless hours of support and compassion to families in need. She is the current top poster on Share, and was one of the 2007 recipients of our year end Galaxy Awards!
Shonda and her family served as the 2006 Ambassador Family for Central Iowa. Shonda learned the power of her story after speaking to a group of local businesses, when a man from the audience approached her and said “Your story made me cry today…then I opened my wallet”. She also approached the preschool her children attend, and secured a donation of Team 2 Here, 2 in Heaven T-Shirts!
Shonda has served as the Des Moines Family Teams Chair and Co-Chair in 2007 and 2008, and was top walker in 2007 for her area and the number two walker for the entire state of Iowa! Shonda raised a whopping $7,300 that year for walk, and came in 186th in the entire nation! That same year, Shonda joined hundreds of other volunteers on Capitol Hill to lobby for the S-Chip, and is proud of the fact that all Iowa representatives favored the bill. Way to go Shonda! There is no rest for this Shining Star. Shonda also serves on the Parent Ambassador Program at the hospital her children were born at, providing comfort and support to families currently in the NICU, and moms on bedrest.
