1 year later and still hurting.

KnJ'zMami - 01:01am Sep 19, 2008 EST

The day my daughter was admitted into the NICU was the day i hit my all time lowest point of my life. When she did finally come home i didnt have the right help or time to try and put the pain and hurt in its place. An now because of that almost a year later i still cry and get chills all up an down my body when i hear the word NICU.Im still hurting today as i was when she was hospitalized. Now that its coming up on her birthday.?WHOA!time went by so fast but my pain still remains. The thoughts are in my head vividly.Lately i sit and hold her and rub her hand in the exact spot her IV was in and cry myself to sleep.Am i taking this too far? i dont know what to do.or how to cope.but its got a hold on me so tightly im scared i'll always have those memories in my mind controlling my life.Someone please help me.

Re: my son has hydrocephalus

Hi, I'm 30 years old and was acutally born at 30 weeks premature with hydrocephalus, but somehow it didn't get diagnosed until I was 27 yrs old and I started having headaches and went to the neurologist who told me I would need to have surgery ASAP. Its now almost 3 years later I have had to have 2 shunts placed but I'm doing well. On another note my son was just born at 24wks on Feb 9 and he's in the NICU now, they are watching him closely the next few days to make sure he doesn't develop hydrocephalus. I hope I have helped you in some way if there's anything else I can help with let me know.
