maybe birth defect

prettylilmama - 04:43pm Apr 24, 2009 EST

I am worried and scared......I had an ultrasound done and then went to the doctors later, I was told that during the ultrasound they could not see all 4 valves in the heart. They only could see two. What can this mean? The heart beat is fine when I go to the doctor every time. What if my baby has only 2 or there valves in his/her heart. Will he/she live. I have so many questions that I want answers for. iam worried and cant do anything about it. can anyone help with answers?

Well, I am afraid I don't have any information on this but I wanted to let you know that I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope that maybe someone else on Share has some info on this.

I would assume they will tell you to see a pediatric cardiologist to get a heart echo but if not, I would ask about it. The heart echo is just like an ultrasound but focuses on the anatomy and function of the heart.

Big Hugs,
Jackie

Sorry you are going through this. I dont have any information on the possible heart condition... I did have LOTS of things told were "possibly" wrong with my daughter, and on that part I do understand. I would ask to have a level 2 sonogram done by a perinatologist (high risk OB).

I wish you the best of luck and that your little one is born healthy.

I'm sorry that I don't have better information for you regarding this situation, but I just want to encourage you to be strong. Things can work out for everyone. These drs. have so many things they can do when needed now.

Welcome to Share. I also am not certain about your specific situation or what the lack of seeing two valves would mean. I agree with Jackie though, that I am sure that if your doctor was really concerned they would recommend a cardio or high risk doctor to be brought in for consultation. Best of luck finding out the answers and you will be in my thoughts.

Love, Kelly

We will all be thinking of you and your daughter. Please do let us know what the Cardiologist says. I am sorry you are so scared, but we will all be here for you regardless of the results.

Love, Kelly
