High blood pressure-need advice!
YummyMummy - 12:49pm May 2, 2009 ESTPrincess Sophia (25 wks)I am writing this on behalf of my friend, who is also a mother to a premature child. Her son was born 14 weeks earlier and is 20 months old now. He is doing well and is right on target for his milestones for his corrected age. However, all among other "preemie"things he had along the way, he developed a high blood pressure right before he was ready to go home from the NICU. He has been on the medication to correct his blood pressure ever since and can not BE without it. His mother has been struggling to find answers to why this is happening to him, but had been unsuccessful so far. The doctors seem to just hope he will eventually grow out of it and don't try to get to the bottom of it. She is my good friend and I trust her judgment when she is worried that there might be something more to it than just "growing out of it". They've done all possible tests(kidneys, MRI's e.t.c.) and they all came back normal. I was wondering if anyone here had the same problem and maybe can give us any input on this situation? Thank you for listening!

Thank you for your replies! It's true, to get to the bottom of it is almost impossible, when so much was done medically in the beginning to save their lives.. benefits vs risks,, i guess my friend just hopes her son will outgrow it eventually and won't have to be on this medication for the rest of his live.
Missy , I hope your boy is doing better !

I am not familiar with the high blood pressure dilemma, however wanted to jump in and let you know that I will be thinking of your friend and her little boy. I'll be interested to see what the findings are. Keep us posted.
Love, Kelly
