2 vessel cord and worried

baby silveira - 07:55pm Jun 9, 2009 EST

I have read so many horror stories about this. We found out at our 20 week apt. our baby boy had a 2 vessel cord. We have seen a specialist to confirm and they say everything else is perfect, the worst case scenerio is to deliver early but at 21w & 4d he was 15 oz. and perfect heart rate, etc.

Is there anything I can do while pregnant to ensure he is okay? Anyone else going thru this?

A two vessel cord is definately something to watch. But in most cases it does not affect the pregnancy too much.

The babies growth and development should be carefully monitored to ensure that all is well.

Keep us all posted!

I don't have experience with this, but wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and hope that things work out wonderfully for this little one that you're carrying.

I don't have any experience with this but Kathryn is an experienced nurse so I trust her voice. I just wanted to say to keep us posted on baby silveira. I hope your pregnancy lasts another 18 weeks.

Take care,
Ellen

I agree with Ellen, Kathryn sure knows what she is doing, so I would take her advice.

Keep us updated and keep baking that baby!

Proud mom to a strong fighting little girl (35 weeker)

Hi. You should not worry but put your trust and faith into God. A two vessel cord is one of the many things that my daughter had. The doctors weren't too concerned about it, just about how much oxygen the baby got. My little girl had perfect heart rate and growth despite everything she was presented with. God works in miracles. And I have one of them for a daughter. As long as your baby is growing and has a healthy heart beat you have nothing to worry about. Just take care of yourself and get plenty of rest.
