removal of shirodkar suture

sunshine2009 - 09:15am Aug 20, 2009 EST

Hi..I had an emergent suture done at 26 weeks because of my cervix funneling. My doctor ended up doing a shirodkar suture instead of the McDonald Suture. He advised that the suture will be removed at 37 weeks or if I go into labour.

I am terrified of injury to my cervix after removal of suture and atempting vaginal delivery. Has anyone had the experience of removal of a shirodkar suture and delivered vaginally?

Hmmm..... I had a McDonald cerclage so I don't think that will answer your questions. Regardless, I had no problems with the removal and delivered my son vaginally a few weeks later with no complications.

I'm sure someone else here on Share might have some better input. I'll see what I can find for you!
