20 weeks and 1 cm dilated
mommy2bwboy - 01:34pm Oct 10, 2009 ESThello i am ambrel and i am new here. i am on my 3rd pregnancy i have had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, went into preterm labor at 24 weeks with a beautiful little girl, she was in NICU for 3 days and she didnt make it. Now i am 20 weeks with a little boy and went in for my regular check up on tuesday and the doctor said i was 1 cm dilated and i had a short cervix at 2.7 cm. He told me to go to the hospital where they put me on bed rest. i am in a small town hospital that have high risk doctors only come on mondays and thursday to check high risk patients, and he was suppose to check me and see if i am a candidate for a cerclage on thursday, but when thursday comes the doctor that i was suppose to see ends up with the flu!!!! (lucky me) so now i have to wait til monday to see a doctor and it is saturday! i am so nervous, because i want to get a cerclage, what would make me not eligible for a cerclage, and if i am eligible what is the success rate, and is it painful?

Honestly, that is hard to say. A cerclage is a huge help to someone with IC but it doesn't necessarily mean you will carry full term. As the baby gets bigger it puts more strain on the cervix and on the cerclage, so it just depends on what happens. Your best bet is to lay low as much as you can and relax. Wish I could give you better advice.

HI Ambrel, I hope that things worked out with the cerclage, I have one at the moment and I am praying that it will do it's job, but most of all I'm praying that God will get me through and I know He'll do the same for you...
