Mom to Kimberly (25 wkr, 6 yrs!) & Matthew (38.5 wkr, 4 yrs!)

I had a cerclage in my 2nd pregnancy and I remember being constantly nervous something was wrong too. Any little pain or sensation at my cervix and I was in panic mode. However, I carried my son until 38.5 weeks after having my cerclage out at 35.5 weeks. My cerclage was given earlier in my pregnancy but I know a lot of women on Share have had emergency cerclages and then still gone on to carry full term or nearly full term. So don't lose hope - things can still turn out good.

I would also talk to your dr about the 17P shots which help to decrease the activity in your uterus. Some OBs don't believe in them, but mine felt they really helped me get full term. Obviously you have IC since you are dilated and thinning - but doing things to prevent any further cervical changes might be worth considering. In my opinion, you can.t be too well informed.

I wish you lots of luck!
Jackie

Welcome to Share. As Jackie said, I know that many women on here have had successful emergency cerclages with hospital bedrest. I would certainly mention the concerns to the nurses on duty when they occur and your doctors when they visit.

Good luck and hang in there. You are doing great.

Hello and welcome to Share. I can on ditto what was already said as I do not have any experiences with cerclages as well. However, there are many women here who did. I also agree with Ellen, you should speak with the nurses and doctors about all of your concerns when they visit.

Take good care,
Yolonda

Have faith

I know the feeling your going through, I lost my first pregnancy a year ago at 19 weeks due to IC and now I am 19 weeks pregnant again with a cerclage and I am scared that it won't hold. Yesterday I went to the doctor and they told me that the sac was pushing down and I may need bed rest.

I want you to know that all will be fine let, God handle this pregnancy and try to stop worrying, I'll do the same too. I am here for you keep in touch and I will keep you in my prayers.
Keep how alive!!!.

Sally
