It is Possible....
I was born 2 lbs, 4 ounces in 1982 at Long Beach, CA Memorial Hospital. I spent the next 100 days in the hospital where my chances of survival, to say the least, were slim. The doctors and especially the nurses worked around the clock to ensure that I received the most comprehensive care. With the help and love/support of my parents as well as the amazing doctors/nurses, I survived without developing any developmental disabilities.
I am currently 26 years old and due to the amazing care I received, I have been able to progress and live a healthy, typical life. I played competitive baseball, hockey and soccer when I was younger. I graduated high school with a diploma in 2001, undergraduate college from a University of California school in 2005 and graduate school with a Ed.S. degree in 2009.
I share my story in an effort to let people know that it is possible for individuals born premature to live a healthy, normal life with the proper parental and medical care/support.
