Our Beautiful Triplets (25wks)

Karla85 - 10:44pm Nov 16, 2009 EST

My name is Karla and I had triplets at 25 wks of gestation, my OB always told me that they where 1 boy and 2 girls, but he was wrong, we had 3 beautiful girls, and we name them Kenya (1,4lb), Katya (1,7lb) and Keyla (1,10lb).
They where all intubated inmidiatly, 2 wks later Keyla had NEC and they did surgery to removed part of her intestin that it was perforated; days later Katya star with same symptoms and had same surgery the removed 5cm of her intestin, after that we were expecting for Kenya to do the same but thanks god NO.
Days later Keyla and Katya need 2nd surgery named PDA ligation. Unfortunaly Keyla had 3rd surgery to removed more of her intestin an colon when she was back from the OR she was very sick they try everithing, my husbend and i were ther waching all the NICU staff trying to keep it here in this world, but it was too much for us, we felt selfish not doing nothing for her, so we decide to stop them, stop her suffering and we ask the Neo to discconect her from tthe breathing machine. We miss her so much she was 25 days old and never had the chance to hold her, but we feel good cuz we hold her on her last beatings of her haert.
After 4 months in NICU Kenya and Katya came home after some more surgerys and procedures, they are doing great and we pray every day that everything stays that way.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I too lost my son from NEC on August 14 of this year. He was only 19 days old. I miss him so much!
I have a two year old daughter who keeps me going everyday though- life doesn't stop even on those days I wish it would. I am sure you have your hands full with your daughters, their pictures are very sweet.
Share is a tremendous help; there are so many women who share our feelings all to well. I hope you find peace in your daughters and all our stories and support.

Hi Karla, my name is Ana and our stories are very similar. I had triplets at 24 weeks gestation, 2 girls and 1 boy. Sarah 1 lb. 4oz.; Briana 1lb. 7oz. and Samuel 1lb. 4oz.

My little boy passed away the day later from pulmonary and cerberal hemmorahge. My daughter Sarah had NEC which required surgery, later also required surgery for ROP. She spent 5 months in the NICU. My daughter Briana developed Sepsis and required multiple transfusions.

My girls are now 1 - I always say that I was given a mixed blessing...so much happiness among so much pain...but nonetheless...I feel so blessed!

Looking forward to seeing you at Shareunion October 1-3 in Atlanta, GA!!

What sweet pics!! I'm so sorry to hear of Keyla's death and know the heartache that you are feeling as you enjoy the accomplishments of her sisters. I lost one of my twins and the other came home 2 1/2 months later. It's tough, but please know that we're here to listen any time.

    Tracy

    Re: Our Beautiful Triplets (25wks)

Hi Ana ! You make cry with your story, because my OB always told me that I was expecting 2 girls and one boy, but it turn to 3 girls. You may feel the same way as me... When I look at them I always think "What would it be like if Keyla was here?. My husbend says that its going to be that way always, and I already learn to live like that. . . Hope the best for your girls and like you said its a mix of feelings and some days its so much fun but other its sad... we just have to go on, even if its hard to do it o say it.

    Thanks xoxo
