scared my cerclage will fail
trust, hope, pray faith - 07:54pm Nov 28, 2009 ESThi all. i'm new here- lying on my left side typing with one hand so bear with me.
everything was fine in my pg until i went in for my 20 wk us on nov, 17. my cervix was dialating- 6cm and thinning. i was admitted, put on ab and mag sulfate, and put feet over head. the next day i had an amnio and cerclage placed. i was in hospital for 9 days.
now i am at home on modified bed rest (only up for quick showers and bathroom). I will be 22 wks tomorrow. my last us showed my cervix had lengthened to 2-4 cm- it changed back and forth in the exam. my peri was pleased and she didn't expect such good results. the stitch was holding well.
am due for another us on wed. it is so nerve wracking. am so scared that i am going to lose my son. i pray alot, but i'm not sure how to live with this constant fear. if i can just make it to 24-25 wks, my son would at least have a chance. i am just so, so scared.

I will be thinking of you and wishing you the best. I know being on bedrest isn't fun and I'm sure the scare you got at your u/s was enough to make you never want to get up!
Jackie is absolutely right, your situation is scary, but not hopeless. Trust yourself and if you feel like something is wrong then make sure to call your doctor right away. Another idea to try is fetal fibronectin testing...my OB will not do it on me unless I am havinvg contractions, but I know some OBs will do it every 2 weeks. It helps to determine if you will not go into labor in the next two weeks. It is more reliable at predicting not going into labor versus a positive meaning you will...does that make sense?
Good luck! and don't hesitate to join the pregnant and fab thread to chat with other pregnant women.

I will be keeping you in my prayers. I hope the next u/s is as good as the last one. Please keep us posted. The pregnancy folder Kristyn mentioned is a great source of support for those on bedrest.
Take care,
Ellen
