Yeah for Emma...waking on her own to eat! That is awesome!

Mary, today is the day of the new doc, right? Hope you get good news and you didn't get all that snow you were supposed to get.

Megan, Keeping my fingers crossed you're still pregnant tomorrow! Can't wait to hear about your appointment.

    Lesley, how are you?

I went for my 23 week appointment yesterday. My doc was out again, so I saw the NP. I love her, so that is fine. We talked about my contractions changing in feeling and intensity. She didn't seem very thrilled to hear it and told me that it could mean nothing or it could mean my cervix is changing back and forth, which is normal for me. Long and normal one day and short and not normal the next. We'll see how it goes. She also told me to cut myself off from extra activities and focus only on daily activities before I get stuck on the couch full time...so, I am no longer grocery shopping with the kids or going to the mall. I can still run out for quick errands, but that's all. Oh well, I'll take that over what I did before for 6 months!

Hope everyone has a good day and doesn't get stranded in the snow for too long!

It has been busy here the past day! Glad everyone and babies are doing good.
My appointment went good. Baby passed the u/s test. I on the other hand have a horrible cold! Napped with the kids yesterday and the kids stayed at my mom's last night. Feeling better after all the rest. It's a snow day here so she is keeping them all day! i plan on being extremely lazy! Will be 36 wks tomorrow! That'll be the longest time prego for me! Hoping for 37 wks, maybe 38! Trying to take it 1 wk at a time! I did pack a bag for the hospital yesterday, so at least that's done!
Have a good and uneventful week!

Lesley, I hope your cold goes away quick...not a fun thing that late in pregnancy (or any time for that matter). Glad you got some rest...what a great mom to take the kid! 36 weeks is great, but keeping my fingers crossed for 38. Funny how those of us that delivered early wish for 38 weeks but women I know that haven't start in how they just wish it would happen starting earlier when it's not safe! Drives me nuts!

    Keep it up...

Waiting for the OB office to call me back...I have had a backache all day following some short mild contractions this morning and I hate the "is it bad" or "is it fine" backache question. I took a bath and I still feel it and I just feel tight in my uterus, but it isn't coming and going or anything. Plus I've chugged so much water I can't stop peeing, so I'm sure the full bladder isn't helping...hope they hurry up and call...I hate this! I really think it's fine, but backache and feeling sick are the only signs of PTL I had the other two times. This time I don't feel sick, so that is keeping me positive about things.

Kristyn...I hope you're feeling better now! The is it okay is it bad questions just plain suck!!! I'm thinking good thoughts for you.

My appt. today was kind of weird. First the nurse wrote down my weight as ten pounds more than it should be and no one commented on that at all. It would seem like the dr. should be concerned if I gained ten and a half pounds in a week. I wonder if she even checked that info. Then the ultrasound tech was visiting with my cousin (they used to work together) and not really paying attention to me. It was a little...off-putting! I did get a really cute face picture of the baby today, though! Then the dr. didn't do an internal exam because I'd been feeling good all week with no contractions. Since I've been waiting all week to see if I'd dilated anymore, it was kind of weird. I also didn't have many contractions to get me to 4cm...so it seems like she would have checked me anyway.

Overall it was just weird, but I felt fine about it. I think having the ultrasound, hearing the heartbeat and knowing that I'm 37 weeks now I can relax a little...like if I go into labor it'll be what's supposed to happen.

The most exciting part of the visit today was finding out that if I make it to 39 weeks then the dr. will break my water to get things moving along. I wasn't sure what she could do to bring on labor since I'm attempting a VBAC after 2 c-sections. That at least puts a little bit of a timeframe on things. Two more weeks and this part of the anxiety will be over!!!

    I'll keep everyone posted!

    Megan.

    Good morning

    Hello Ladies.

I've been pointed in your direction. I am 14 weeks pregnant with project two after we lost our first baby Connor at 24 weeks to my Incompetent cervix. I have just had the stitch put in and its healed up very nicely, so now we shall just have to wait and see.

I have been reading all your stories and have been on all the journeys. Nobody's is the same, but the feeling of loss and the faith in hope shines through.
I may have a slightly different experience because i live in Singapore. I get to see my Dr. at least once a month, and more now after the stitch. I am so lucky because i get an u/s at every visit so i can see my bean growing ( although i must admit i'm having a hard time connecting ). I can also get a dvd made of every visit so i can have all u/s recorded so you can watch baby grow. Do any of you guys get this also?

Anyway, off to Dr Tan this morning ( he's a funny little Singaporean man who is quite awesome ) and hoping for good news. All the best to you and thanks for sharing all your stories.

    Hugs and smiles x x x

Kristyn--What did the dr. say? I hope you're feeling better.
Lesley--I hope your cold goes away quickly
Megan--I'm sorry your appt. was a little frustrating.

I had a great doctor's appt. today. They did a complete/thorough look at the baby. I was only hoping for a little sneak peak, so I was pleasantly surprised with the ultrasound today. They even recorded it on DVD for me. Baby is looking great. He is definitely a he! They looked at the brain, heart, spine, and other organs. Everything is looking good. It's a relief to hear that everything is looking good with his heart since we're at a higher risk for having another heart-baby. Baby is measuring 18 weeks which according to the calendar I'll be 18w tomorrow. He is weighing approx. 8 oz. My cervix is looking good. It measured 3cm and no one said anything about funneling or anything. So...anyway...all is well! Hooray!!!

I see my OB next week and return to the Peri. in 2 weeks.

    Hi!

I'm glad you're here! I hope everything continues to go well with this pregnancy and baby. I, too, had a cerclage placed as a preventive measure at 12 weeks.

To answer your question...yes. I have been getting regular ultrasounds with each visit and just today they put the u/s on DVD for us. It's so exciting to see baby growing.

What did you find out from your dr.'s visit today?

Please keep updating. It's always wonderful to read the stories and be a part of the lives and pregnancies of other moms who are going through similar situations.

Frustrated with Fed Ex!! I have one terb syringe left, which I'll use tonight and then I won't have any! I called the home health and told them I didn't receive my package today. Was told a delivery was attempted but no one was available and they weren't comfortable leaving it at the door. Bull****!! We were eating dinner at the time, right by the door! We also have snow and NO tire tracks there either!!! I've been napping with the kids before and they've left it at the door! I told the lady that I really doubted they even were here! Guess I'll complain to my normal dayshift nurse tomorrow! Hoping I don't need any extra doses and tha my site stays good or I won't have enough!!!

    hi ladies.

Well I was bummed today to see Annie was still in the incubator. The new doctor that was suppose to be on today I guess broke her arm. So I will see when the new Dr comes in. She has not at very well for me the past couple of days but Her jaundice numbers went up a little too which might make her a little sleepy. It was not up enough to treat it but still up a little. And on top of everything they think I have Thrush so I am off to the dr. tomorrow. At least I know I have enough milk pumped. So it was a little bummer of a day but on a positive note we did not get the 6 inches of snow they were calling for!

Here's hoping to a better day tomorrow.

I hope everyone is doing well and Kristyn I hope you doctor got back to you with some good news.

    Everyone take care!
    Mary

    Good Morning!

Hi Mary, Emma went through the same stages in NICU, but have no fear it did go fast once she out of the incubator and was awake enough for her feeds. She also had slightly elevated levels for her jaundice for a day or day after and it did make her extra sleepy. Don't get discouraged Annalee will tell you when she's ready
Julie I love the picure. I also have a DVD of Emma of 30 weeks and it is so precious, she makes the same faces now as she did on the video.
Englishwoman in Asia- i was also very lucky and saw my doctor weekly due to the fact that he wanted to be the one to administer my P17 shots and had weekly ultrasounds - it was a relief every week!

Mary, I'm sorry about Annie's situation. We had the same things with Skylar's jaundice...so frustrating! And, if I recall you can still pump and give the baby milk even if she has thrush...I might be wrong about that, so double check. Hope it clears up quickly.

Well, I updated my blog about yesterday so I won't do it here...but I'm finally home and we're ok for now. You can read it by clicking on it above.

Hope all is well for everyone...I'm off to the couch

    Re: hi ladies.

Hope you guys have a good feeding day! We also had thrush while in the NICU. We were both on med for it. The lactation people also had me to use the medella sterilzation bags daily. I think I also made sure to change my breast pads more frequently to make sure there wasn't any moisture. I use nipple sheilds too and they also wanted to make sure I washed those everytime and I'd steralizr those at night too. (Same with pacifiers)
    Good Luck! Stay strong!

    Thanks for the shout out!

My appointment was great. Baby fine, stitch in place. The Dr said it looks like a diamond. He's a bit odd. Tried to find out the sex but the baby just kept the cord between its legs. Shy or being difficult. We think its a girl, cos any girls born in the year of the Tiger are the most feisty and independent of all the signs ( much to my husbands to delight ) Another appointment next month. Have to go perform in the show, so lets hope the baby doesn't mind going back to 1920 and playing hockey!

To everyone else, good day to you and i hope its better than yesterday.

I'm doing much better today. Baby is active despite the Procardia, which brings me to my questions...I know some of you have taken it. How did it work for you? Did it work throughout your pregnancy? How often did you take it and what was the doesage?

    Thanks for the answers

Re: Pregnant and Fabulous? Expectant Moms Check In Here!!

Hey! Our pregnancies seem to be similar! I started the procardia about right when you are now. I think the dosage was 10mg. At 1st I just took them as needed every 6 hrs. It started with maybe 1-2 a day, if I knew I was going to be more active and up with the kids I'd go ahead and take one. Then it got to every 6 hrs, then every 5, then every 4, then the terb pump. But, I was able to stay on the procardia until almost 31 wks. My 1st preg started the terb pump at 29 wks, delivered at 32. 2nd preg started terb pump at 28 wks delivered at 36.
Don't know if you 've taken the procardia before, this was my 1st time. It seemed like it took about an hour or more after taking the pill to notice a difference in my contractions. It also took a few weeks for my blood pressure to get adjusted! I'd be dizzy and tired and check my B/P and it'd be 80's/40's-50's. The more I took I also noticed my cheeks would get really flushed.
Good Luck, hope it continues to help!!

Lesley, such cute pictures! I love them.
Thanks for your experience on the Procardia. It's kicking my butt with the blood pressure. It's at its worst after about 1/2 hour of taking the pill for about an hour. I don't have a BP cuff...one of the things I plan to ask about today. I've never taken Procardia before. In fact, my doctor has never prescribed me anything for all of my contractions other than a shot of terb when they became regular and that is usually around 32 weeks (when my oldest was born). However, I always noticed a considerable change in intensity about 2 to 3 weeks before they became more PTL like versus irregular and short. Which, is what happened now except I'm only 23 week and not 29 like usual! I did have some mild contractions yesterday after about 4 or 5 hours, but that seemed to improve over the course of the day. I haven't felt any since I've been up, but I just took the pill an hour ago and I was sound asleep before that...so tired!

    Thanks!

I do have one more questions...did you (Lesley) and anyone else drive while on Procardia? There is no way I feel safe driving if I get taken off of modified bedrest today. Sometimes I feel fine and then the dizziness just takes over. Can't imagine being behind the wheel of a car.

Re: Pregnant and Fabulous? Expectant Moms Check In Here!!

When I first started taking it was at work. I work 1-2 days a week on same day surg, so I monitored my blood pressure while I was there. Once I stopped working was when I noticed more of the side effects. I think it was because i wasn't up moving around. I borrowed my Dad's B/P monitor after I drove home from dinner one night with my mom and I felt dizzy. That's when I saw how low it was dropping. My OB didn't seem concerned with the low B/P though.
I did get use to it once I started taking it more on a schedule. If you're lying down, sit up for a little bit before getting up. Do some foot pumps to help increase circulation. I def didn't feel safe drving for a few weeks. I'd either wait to take it unitl I was home for the day or take it early so I'd have a few hrs before having to leave!
    Hope you adjust quickly!!

Thanks Lesley! I asked the NP today and she told me I could drive, but I am sure my BP is really low after I initially take it and I'm on it every 6 hours right now. I'll just have to try to plan around the meds until I get used to it. Good news! No bedrest for now, but I am on limited activities and she strongly encouraged us to come up with a back up plan or have people help with the other kids...haha! Who will do that - I don't know. Oh well, it will all work out. I was hoping to only take the Procardia as needed, but she said she thinks I should stay on it until I'm 37 weeks when they remove my cerclage. I'll definitely stay on it for now, but we'll see what happens later on. Hopefully, I can go to as needed later on.
Hope those babies are doing well...Any news on Annie coming home?

Oh yah, I also asked about fFN, but she said they prefer only to use it if I'm actually contracting not as a "let's just see" test. I'm fine with that. If I start having break throughs they'll test me, so I feel better about it.

    Thanks again for the insight,

    Annie Update

She is out of the incubator!!!! We are one step closer to coming home! She also ate very well for me today. She took all 42 ml by bottle today while I was feeding her. They doctors won't give me any time frame for when she might be home but I feel it will be sooner than later now, at least I hope! All three of her roommates got discharged today so hopefully she will get good vibes from them.
Well dr. says I have thrush which I already knew but it took me almost 3 days to get meds...I really thought I liked my OB but now I am thinking I am going to start looking for a new dr soon. She literally walked in to the room after I had been waiting 2hours and said yep you have thrush and asked where I wanted my prescription called in to. My DH picked me up and we went to visit Annalee and then I went to pick up my perscriptions and they were not there. She forgot to call it in and then went I went back today she had called in the wrong amounts. I ended up only getting one pill and then the cream...I was told it should be 5 to 7 pills. I just hope the cream helps the pain soon.
Anyway I am glad everyone is doing well and I will talk to you all soon.
    Mary

    :)

Hey Mary, glad to hear Annie is doing great! NICU never likes to give you a timeline, we were literally on our way to the hospital for a visit when we got a phonecall saying we could take her home that night- we didnt even have the carseat with us because we thought it would be a few more days. Also, I didnt realize how much I hated my first OB until I went to my current doctor- he is unbelievably incredible. If there was a second man in my marriage it would be him (except that he is much older and there is no physical attraction- LOL). Hope everything continues to go well.
    Everyone else-
    Keep those babies baking!
