New to this site - 17p question
Pennie A - 12:52am Jan 27, 2010 ESTHi All,
I am so happy to have found this website

It's nice to not be alone! I am 22 wks right now with my third cerclage. With my last 2 children I had a cerclage and with with daughter had the 17p shots. I am back on the shots again and just had wk 4 shot yesterday. They were all good (just a little sore till this last shot) now I am experiencing the same issues I did when I took the 17p shots with my daughter. I get so tired about 2 hours after then get an awful headache. I was googling trying to find other moms who have side effects or documents if this is normal, but for the most part it seems that many women have nothing other then the soreness.... does anyone else experience problems with these shots and have any solutions?

I have heard of women having headaches because of the 17P shots. And some women being tired. Is it normal? I'm not sure. I really never noticed any side effects with it but I do know some women have posted here on Share that they had issues.
Some people have had side effects due to the inactive ingredients in the shot. So maybe you can see if they can compound it differently with a different inert liquid. It's at least worth asking about. It might make a difference, but maybe not. It's also possible it could make it worse, I suppose.
Wish I could be more help!
Jackie

HI Pennie,
I have not used the shots myself as my doctor feels the cerclage does just fine for me, however we discussed it in depth. She said it is very common for 17P to make you very tired and to have headaches. Those were two of the main things she mentioned to me. Soreness is a given with the thickness of the liquid from my understanding. I've read on here in other threads that having it warmed up before injected is a big help in preventing it from hurting so much. Good luck with the pregnancy. I agree with Jackie, maybe there is a way to compound the formula differently. Good luck, keep us posted!
