Undecided!!Janmar8 - 10:19pm Jan 31, 2010 ESTI'm undecided on getting pregnant again! 4 months ago I had a preterm labor at 6 months due to a short cervix. I was about 4 months pregnant with twins when my doctor notice my cervix was short and during my pregnancy my doctor would check my cervix and when I turned 6 months he notice the cervix getting shorter I was in the hospital for about one and ahalf weeks when they told me I had gotten an infection and that my babies were infected! I gaved birth to two beautiful baby girls who past away! I'm affraid it's to soon to try to get pregnant again and also afraid of going through the same thing but I really want to become a mom!!

Hello, and welcome to Share! I too lost my twin girls, to preterm labor at 20 weeks and 4 days on November 30, 2009. I don't know all of your situation, but with mine all my doctor wanted was for me to wait at least two months and have at least one period. Only you can decide if you are ready to try for another baby or not. Did your doctor give you any recommendations as far as how long he/she wanted you to wait?

Hello and welcome to Share! I am so sorry for the loss of your girls. As Stacy said, only you and your husband can decide when you are ready. FOr some that is right away and for some it is years.
Good luck and I hope to see you around Share.
Ellen

Hello and welcome to share.
I'm sorry for the loss of your little ones. I am sorry I don't have any advice to offer emotionally, but I would definitely talk with your doctor to help you decide if you are physically ready to be pregnant again. Then, I would follow your heart to decide.
Good luck,
Kristyn

If your doctor feels a cerclage would be beneficial I would say go for it...I have had 3 cerclages (I'm on my 3rd now) and I've had 2 full term babies and I'm hoping for the third one to be the same.
There are risks, but having a cerclage placed prevenatatively between 12 and 14 weeks is ideal. (My OB won't do it until I am through the 1st trimester). With my first one I was on bedrest for 6 months because I was already funneling and dilated at 14 weeks, but I was not on bedrest with my 2nd or currently 3rd cerclage. Sometimes OBs will prescribe an antibiotic/antifungal med for you take just after the procedure to help prevent possible infection. There are usually restrictions for lifting and sometimes mobility, so I would talk it all out with your OB before you get it done so you know a bit more about what to expect.
Good luck in reaching a decision and getting pregnant when you are ready.
Kristyn
