Breastfeeding a Preemie
KaylynsMommy - 09:25pm Dec 12, 2011 ESTSo my daughter is now 15 weeks old, 8 weeks corrected. I am breastfeeding when at home but pumping while at work. My daughter is eating roughly 3 oz per feeding at this point. When I feed her straight to breast she gets plenty so I know I am producing enough to meet her needs but during the day at work when I pump I don't hardly ever get near 3 oz. I have been told breastfeeding a preemie is difficult but is this a common issue? Does anyone have any good tips? I am trying heat, that helps some, and thinking about my daughter while pumping. I have also been told to try taking fenugreek pills. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Monica, remember that being in the NICU is super stressful and stress affects milk supply. I hardly produced any milk...
Thanks Laura. I am still getting a few drops at each pumping. I'm hoping my supply will come back when he is able to nurse.
