CHD Awareness Week, Feb 7-14

liz loschinskey - 09:39pm Feb 7, 2012 EST
I love my kids!

1 in 120 babies are born with Congenital Heart Defects. My daughter was one of them. She was born at 26 weeks with a PDA(Patent ductus arteriosus) that wouldn't close and an ASD(Atrial Septal Defect), holes in her heart.

Please keep children with CHD close to your heart and in your prayers. If you have first hand experience, maybe even help out, volunteer, or support others in your area that have children with CHD.

If it helps to type your story out on ShareYourStory, please, you are more than welcome to share your CHD story here.

Pass it along.

Love and Light,
Liz

Akeelah's Mommy - Feb 10, 2012 5:59 am (#2 Total: 3)

A moment in our arms, a lifetime in our hearts.

Liz,

Thanks, I had no idea. Akeelah had a CHD. I think of everything it was her Achilles heel. I was thankful to read from another poster that FL (I think) was making checking newborns for CHD mandatory.

Hugs,
Lauren

I love my kids!

Lauren, I know they are trying to pass(They've been trying since 06') to do pulse ox's on infants before they go home to make sure they have no heart issues. It's been 6 years, still nothing. I know of a teaching hospital in Ohio(ClevelandClinic) that does this. I only know because Tori's 2nd choice of hospitals was there and I did a ton of research on their NICU.

LoveandLight,
Liz
