Our March 2012 Shining Star: Brooke

We are pleased to announce our March Shining Star is Brooke (Brookeg), author of blog Baby Baron

Brooke first heard about Share Your Story through a Google search after losing her son Baron, she was in dire need of connecting to anyone who had been through a similar experience. No one she knew had ever lost a child, so while she had a lot of people around her being supportive, none of them really understood how she was feeling. She wanted to share her feelings and talk with anyone who had "survived" grief. How did they do it? What did they do? She found so many people all with different stories of loss, or struggles with the NICU and even though she had met none of them they all would share very similar feelings of grief. It was a sad and supportive feeling all at once and it led her through those dark days.

Brooke has been a member of our volunteer committee for a long time and has been using her knowledge and experiences to welcome many of our new Share members as they come in! In April 2010, she raised over 1900 for their March for Babies walk in Columbus. Since then she has always donated in whatever ways she can to the March of Dimes, whether that be supporting someone else's walk or participating in her local 5k's that go to her local Nationwide Children's hospital.
