Congrats. I was discharged from the nicu April 14. Because I spent seventeen hours a day there watching the monitors when we came home I was so scared. I went and both the movement monitor just to ease my mind.

Hello my name is Laura I know how hard it is also to leave your baby in the nicu I delivered my daughter at 29 weeks and 1 day I developed strep in my amniotic sac thank god we got it early sophia was 3 lbs 5 oz she required nip-v and some other stuff in the NICU. I found it hard to leave the Hospital but I knew she was where she needed to be I spent hours on end there called everyday to check on her some babies do not have their parents there with them. The staff was great at Yale New Haven some nurses I did not care for but for the most part every staff member from the drs down were wonderful. they let my daughter come home at 34.5 weeks on Christmas eve I was so scared prayed alot. But never be afraid to ask questions and if you do not understand what someone is saying ask to talk to someone else. I had a hard time because some drs and nurses spoke broken english I felt weird asking questions to them because I feel like they were looking at me like this chick is nuts lol. I did kangaroo care it was the best feeling in the world I pumped for Sophia she did not really take to breast feeding but I am happy I was able to give her breastmilk for the first 3 months.

Some hope for you!
My daughter was a whopping 490g's(1#1oz). Born at 26wks. She is now 32and months old....perfectly healthy. She came home at 4lb3oz on oxygen, pulse ox, and a/b monitors. She has had her ups and downs and we utilized every early intervention therapist we could.
God gave us gifts! Enjoy her!
Love and light, liz
