Upper GI/Swallow test

liz loschinskey - 06:29pm May 10, 2012 EST
I love my kids!

What's the difference and why did I have to schedule 2 seperate appointments?

2 doses of barium and radiation.

That poor girl, she's had so much radiation in her little life. She will be glowing before we know it.

Any reading I'm doing on these is they xray different spots with different consistancies of foods...?

Help!

Come to ShareUnion 2012: It's the BEST weekend ever!!!

Liz, Nathan always has them seperately to get more accurate results. They typically do the Upper GI first and then a few days later the swallow study. The Upper GI and Swallow Study look at different things, Upper GI looks at the intestines/stomach and the Swallow Study looks at just how she swallows and holds things in her mouth/esophagus. I know it's annying and scary to have both done but you will get more accurate results when they are done seperately.
