constant coughing and getting sick

mom2sophia11 - 12:19pm May 29, 2012 EST

Sophia has been coughing to the point she throws up she is 6 months old this has been happening more frequently now. I had her at the drs yesterday to see what is going on. The dr said she has a red throat everything else looks good and to keep using saline drops it will thin the mucous. I guess it may be getting caught in the back of her throat. She was so irritable yesterday she would eat fall asleep and cry. I feel so bad for her she is drooling alot more now I am thinking it is post nasal drip to. she has her 6 month check up tomorrow hopefully I can get more answers. I have tried steam and the humidifier what else can I do she is elevated in her crib?

They do outgrow it but it takes time. My 27 weeker is 8 months and 5 months corrected age and still struggles with reflux. We have scary moments and I have moments where I feel bad because I know it's no fun to have stuff come back up. The coughing until they puke; I personally still do that sometimes and even when I laugh. I have reflux though I hope things subside for your little one soon; I know it's no fun to watch and to feel helpless.

    Abigail's Mom (29 weeks, 3/21/05)

She was prescribed two reflux meds. To be honest, it didn't stop her from throwing up but it prevents any acid damage.

    Good luck.
