HER STORY SO FAR!

Jun 16, 2008 10:15pm (EST)

Alaina was a 27 weeker who was only 1lb 1.5 oz. She has been in the NICU for over 4 1/2 months. She has went throught a lot. She has been on the ventalator for two months or more. She also has had two wholes in her heart the first called PDA the second VSD. She was first sent to min minnesota to get the PDA fixed. Everything went good with that, then she was sent back to Sioux Falls. Later she was still off and on the venalator. Finally mn childrens hospital took her over again. She had a stomic infection called Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). Aparently It is very common for premees to have this infection due to senitivity to formula. She has had layzer eye surgery, a fractured wrist everything you can think of except a bleed in the head thank god.
But the good thing is she is now in a regular crib, last weekend I was able to feed her throught the bottle for the first time and give her a bath I was so exsited. They said if she doesnt have any set backs she could be home in a month. It is so hard having her about 4 hours away. Finally exsited mom Julia
