IS IT SPRING YET?

Feb 11, 2010 02:21pm (EST)

If you are from the Midwest I'm sure you are wondering the same thing...I like snow, I like winter, but this is ridiculous. If it's not snowing its cold, if its not cold, it's snowing....oh well, time goes fast enough, I do not wish it to go any faster!
We've been keeping busy during the "abyss", as my husband likes to call it, the time between football and baseball seasons. I tend to agree, there's not a lot to do but we've been finding things.
Austin's grandma passed away in the middle of January so we went and spent some time with his family. Grandma will be missed.
We started Kindermusik, Paul LOVES it, he loves dancing, playing with the other kids, and playing music.
We got our taxes done! Pleasantly surprised!
We are planning a ladies' weekend with Austin's side of the family ladies.
"Beach Day" for Paul with the Parks and Rec department. It was inside! See picture below.
Took Paul bowling for the first time, that was funny, he'd do this crazy little dance after he would come back from rolling the ball down the lane. See picture below.
I think that's about it. Have a great Valentine's Day. Give your loved ones hugs and kisses!

FOREVER

Jan 27, 2010 08:07pm (EST)

I feel like I haven't been on here forever....which is a good thing, it means life is keeping me busy and things are going great! We are enjoying spending time together and with family and friends. Paul is continuing to keep us on our toes.
We have started Kindermusik with him on Tuesdays, I think he's going to like it! Austin has class on Wednesday nights, I have yoga on Thursdays, then the week is over and we usually try to do stuff as a family or with family and friends on the weekends.
We are also getting excited to add a niece or nephew to the family! Austin's brother and his wife are expecting in June.
Hope everyone is having a great January! It's hard to believe we are almost one month into 2010!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Jan 02, 2010 09:30pm (EST)

Merry Belated Christmas and New Year! I was sad to ring out 2009 and excited to ring in 2010! It is hard to believe it has been 10 years since Y2K!
Our lives have changed so much in 10 years! I wouldn't change anything! God does have a plan for us and we are excited to live out our life as he has planned. Some of it may be difficult to do, but we know that he has our life in His hands.
Wishing you all the best as we begin this new year!

BAH HUMBUG!

Dec 08, 2009 06:10pm (EST)

We have a Scrooge in our neighborhood! Some stole the blue lights out of our porch lights...honestly, who does something like that? Sad! It's almost as sad as somebody taking Paul's toy set out of the back yard....rift raft!
On a more positive note, Paul and I made some Christmas cookies today! I love the smell of fresh baked food in the house.
We are in a "winter wonderland" here in South Dakota! We have about 4 inches of snow and it is really windy... crossing my fingers for a "SNOW DAY!!" But, yet not, because I have a lot of things I want to do with the kiddos at school.
Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!

DECEMBER

Dec 03, 2009 04:16pm (EST)

Well, hard to believe December is here! Our house is full of lights, trees, and festivities! We are so thankful for another great year of each other, family, friends, and most importantly that God is in control of our lives. It has been a roller coaster few weeks but am eternally grateful to God, my family, and friends for all of the blessing in our lives. I am looking forward to Christmas (and all the great things and goodies leading up to it)!
The snow is starting to fall here, I love it, yet loathe it!
Not too much new here, just thought I'd update that we are still here taking it day by day. Not one day goes by that we don't think about Aaron but we know we can not stop everything else. We love that Paul is such a good distraction and we are looking forward to the next child to join our life!
Cute saying by Paul: Austin asks Paul, "What do you want for Christmas?" Paul's response, "To go ice fishing so I can say WOO!" Too cute!
Have a great weekend!

THINGS...

Nov 24, 2009 07:40pm (EST)

I want to thank all who have sent well wishes and prayers our way. We are still continuing to struggle but know that God has a greater plan for us and for Aaron. Hopefully one day we will find out what that is. We have been trying to pick up the pieces, we feel so fortunate that we have God, each other, Paul, and a really large support system of family and friends. I have been telling people, I am glad this happened to us and not someone who has no one to fall back on. We know Aaron was brought to us for a reason, if only for a short time, and we were brought to Aaron for a reason. One of the toughest things is trying to explain this to a 3 year old who has come to love and care for Aaron. In some ways it is like he "died". I know there are many mom's and dad's out there that have lost a child, I imagine this is somewhat how you feel.

Paul had his 3 year pictures a couple of weeks ago, here is a link if you want to see what he looks like, we have had this photographer take pretty much every picture involving us EVER! If it's not the first one, just look for "Paul" http://blackstudios.com/blog/ I can't wait for them to come back, they also put together a Christmas card for us!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for!

SHOCKING!

Nov 20, 2009 01:28pm (EST)

Hi everyone,

We received some sobering news last night, Aaron’s birthmother has decided to reclaim him. We are shocked by this news, especially two months after his birth and only 5 days from the court date. Thanks for your support.

HOME...

Nov 13, 2009 07:22pm (EST)

We made it home last night around 8 pm. Things are going pretty good, we have gone back to "Paul Protocol" (things we did when Paul was just home from the NICU). Washing obsessively, sanitizing, changing clothes, etc....
I had to make a spreadsheet listing all of the things we need to do throughout the day, just to make sure we don't miss anything.
Tomorrow we are taking family pictures with a couple that we have done basically everything with, from my senior pictures, to our wedding, to a couple of our siblings weddings, and all of our family pictures and Christmas cards. I'm pretty excited. We are also having Paul's 3rd birthday party at a pool! I think we decided that Austin and Aaron would miss the festivities, but I'm sure there will be LOTS of pictures to show them!
Hope everyone is having a great Friday the 13th!
Thank you for the continued support and prayers, please keep them coming for continued healing for Aaron and rest for us!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!

Nov 11, 2009 02:27pm (EST)

I can't believe I went the whole day yesterday without a post! Yesterday was Paul's 3rd birthday! I can't believe he is 3 years old. I vividly remember the day he was born, how much joy, excitement, and anticipation, but also how much I was scared, worried, and unpreparedness I was feeling. Knowing our firstborn was going to be early, not knowing what to expect with a NICU experience. 3 years later you would never know any of those details but they are still there! He is an amazing, smart, funny, cute, did I say amazing little boy, I love him more then the day I had him. We are so lucky!

On a side note, we are still in the hospital with Aaron. He seems to be doing better. He was off of oxygen since midnight but is seeming to have trouble and may have to get the oxygen back on. Please continue sending good thoughts and prayers our way.

Thanks,
Mallory

RSV

Nov 05, 2009 01:18pm (EST)

Aaron is in the hospital with RSV. We went to the doctor today because he wasn't keeping too much down, he would start coughing and spit everything back up. So, they did the RSV test and it came back positive. Please send your thoughts and prayers our way for a short stay.

Thanks,
Mallory
