Alyssa's "dad" never calls about her. While we were together it was very hard. When we finally broke up he stopped calling about Alyssa and never gives me money. Well in October of last year I met Steven. He's the best thing thats ever happened to me next to having alyssa. He is so good with alyssa.. i feel like he loves her more than her own father does. But I heard a saying once.. "It takes anyone to be a father. But it takes someone special to be a daddy." I thank God for steven everyday.. He's so good to us!

PAGEANT!

Alyssa was in a pageant Saturday at the Olive Branch Shrine Club. She won 1st alternate. i was SO proud! She did a really good job.. when they were telling her hobbies they said "alyssa loves to dance" she started dancing on the stage and she started clapping when everyone else did. It was so cute!!
But one bad thing.... she slapped me! when everyone had to line up on stage she WANTED DOWN! so i let her down and she started running around the stage.... so i picked her up and she slapped me. I just smiled

ALYSSA IS ALMOST 17 MONTHS!

I haven't written in a LONG time..
Alyssa is 16 months.. she'll be 17 months May 2nd. She's getting so big it seems like yesterday i was taking her home from the NICU. She's came a long way from a 3 lb. baby.. now she weighs about 24 lbs! She loves to dance and "read books" she even turns books the right way if they are upside down when she's looking at them!

UPDATE ON ALYSSA

haven't written in a while.. alyssa got out of the hospital on december 20th. she only stayed in there for 2 weeks! she weighed 4lbs 1oz when she got out. now she weighs almost 10 lbs! Thank God for the NICU!!

I VISITED ALYSSA AGAIN TODAY!!

Today my mom and i went to the hospital to see alyssa. she's doing really good! she weighs 3 lbs 4 oz now and they are feeding her 9 cc's every 4 hours. i got to help change her diaper today.. it was the second time she had a bm. it was kind of hard though because all the cords got in the way. but it was special. the nurse also let me hold her again today. she needed to change her sheets so she put alyssa in my arms. i absolutely love holding her!! tomorrow michael is going to the hospital with me to see alyssa... it will be the first time he gets to hold her!!! i can't wait!

ALYSSA RAE IS HERE!

My doctor has told me ever since i was able to feel alyssa moving my my belly to call the hospital if i noticed a change in her movement. she was due on january 27th... December 1st i came home from school and told my mom i hadn't felt her move all day long. she told me to call the doctor, but i thought that i was being paranoid. But something told me to call him even though i didn't think i needed to. i called him and the nurse that i talked to told me to go to the hospital because dr. whaley wasn't in the office. so my mom took me to the hospital and they did a bunch of tests. her heart was beating fine but she wasn't moving a lot. at first they thought she wasn't moving because i hadn't eaten much all day so they gave me some food.. she still didn't move. so they did a stress test on her and they said she could score 8 points. they gave her the test twice and she only scored 2 both times. dr. whaley decided that he needed to go ahead and take her by a c section.. he called the university of tennessee to get a second opinion and they said they thought he needed to take her too. so on december 2nd alyssa rae was born at 1:53 in the morning. she was on 50% oxygen at the hospital we were at. they decided to send her to baptist east and on the way there in the ambulance she had to get 60% oxygen. now, 5 days later, she's breathing on her own. shes getting fed thru a feeding tube but atleast she's taking my breast milk! she's such a beautiful baby!!! i am depressed though, because i can't have her at home with me. i want her here SO bad.. its so hard to have your baby so close to you for so long when they are in your belly and then not be close to them any more. i don't know what to think or feel and i don't know if the things i am feeling are normal... sometimes i feel like all this is my fault.. like if i would have taken my prenatal vitamins this wouldn't have happened.. i know i shouldn't blame it all on myself but it's so hard not to. my friend samantha has helped me out tremendously.. we weren't friends in high school but now we are talking a lot. she really understands what i'm going through and she's easy to talk to.
 today i went to the hospital... she was losing weight.. she weighed 3 lbs. 5 oz. and she lost down to 3 lbs. 1 oz. since yesterday she has gained 2 oz!!! im so happy!! i know it's not much but it makes me happy!! tonight when i saw her she was sleeping with her butt up in the air.. it was so cute.. and when i put finger in her hand she grabs it really tight... i love it!! i'll put more pics up later but here are a few from right after she was born
