A DEAR FRIEND

Jul 02, 2008 01:17pm (EST)

A good friend of mine is about twenty weeks pregnant with her second baby and just yesterday had her ultrasound. when i called her this morning to hear how it went ant to find out what they were having she said she had three things to tell me. One its a GIRL! two her name is going to be Emma. they already have an Elizabeth. and three the baby has a cleft pallet. she said they will be meeting with a plastic surgeon in about two weeks and then about ten weeks from now they will have a 3D ultrasound to tell exactly whats going on and then just wait until shes born to go from there.

have to hold back the tears because i know the feeling too well when the doctor tells you there's something wrong. with keiley it was her clubbed foot and you don't know what to expect. i want to be brave and just offer anything i can to help them. the baby is do in November right as the holidays start and i know its going to be a long road for them. i keep telling my self little Emma will be ok and it could be worse but i really don't want them to have to go through all of this either. my friends 30th birthday is tomorrow and i am just going to try to make it as uplifting as possible and make sure she's ok.

please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers in the upcoming months and if you have any info for my about cleft pallet please send it my way. jsiewert@juno.com

I will update on Keiley later in the week.

WHAT COULD BE WRONG?

May 08, 2008 07:42pm (EST)

Keiley has been a relatively health kid, but this week has been different. on Sunday afternoon she had a fever of 100.2 and we gave her some motrin and just tried to take it easy. she ate dinner fine and was herself after dinner. we put her to bed about 9pm and 5 minutes later she was screaming. she's never been a screamer so i ran into her room, she had thrown up everywhere. the fever never came back and after keeping her up for two more hours and giving her water she seemed to be feeling better and slept fine all night. Monday she was lethargic and didn't have an appetite but was doing good with lots of fluids so i didn't worry. Tuesday much of the same, no appetite and she was much more clingy than usual. we had a picnic at the park with four of her friends and she didn't want anything to do with them. Wednesday she was still about the same during the day and didn't want to eat much. she was really attached to her sippy cup and drank all day. after dinner we were headed up to see our friends new baby girl who was born yesterday and as i was taking Keiley out of the car she threw up everywhere again. no fever or any warning signs. today is back to the lots of fluids but not much food. i called out Ped and they wanted to see us right away so we have an appointment for tomorrow morning. they asked about Diabetes in our families. i dont know if i'm just over thinking this all or if something could really be wrong. i guess we will know in the morning. if you have any ideas of me let me know.

MARCH FOR BABIES 2008

May 05, 2008 12:40pm (EST)

We had our Walk in Boise in April 26th and after a week of not great, cold weather, things turned nice and warm for us. Our walk is 6.2 miles and for a person who doesn't walk that long of distances very often i was a little tired at the end. Keiley was a trooper and rode in the stroller the whole way with out fussing too much. my parents were able to come from Oregon to join us along with my in-laws so it was a very fun day. next year i hope to get it together earlier so we can have matching shirts.

posted some pictures from our walk 1. my dad and Keiley crossing the finish line
2. the group (excluding me)
my dad, my mom, Keiley, my mother in-law, father in-law and my husband John. (hes a photographer and hates being on that side of the camera.

UPDATED PHOTOS

Feb 04, 2008 01:33pm (EST)

thought i would post some updated photos of Keiley. she is growing so fast and is defiantly a two year old. shes talking up a storm and loves playing with her baby dolls. shes all girl.

On another topic, keiley has always has food texture issues. she never ate the baby rice or oatmeal, we skipped it after two months of trying it straight to fruits and veggies. its weird because she will eat yogurt and ice cream but she wont even look at jello and gags uncontrollably with apple sauce. this last week i made chocolate pudding and was determined to at lease get her to try it. she did try it but wont put the spoon in her mouth, she just licks it off the spoon. and even then she only ate just a very small amount. we tried jello a few weeks ago and she seems to be afraid of it. she started to whine and almost cry when i put it on the table. i guess she just not the typical kid. Does anybody think it could be related to her prematurity?

posted pictures of keiley and her dad playing in their fort made out of sheets, one of keiley in the snow and one of her licking her pudding off of her spoon.

CHRISTMAS PHOTO

Dec 15, 2007 02:49pm (EST)

all the Christmas activities have began. tomorrow is keileys first Christmas program at our church. the toddlers will be singing jingle bells and a song called Ring those bells and they will have lots of bells. we have seen Santa twice, the first time is in a picture below. as you can see it didn't go off very well. the second time was at our NICU Christmas party. she wouldn't sit but stood next to him and they talked. so that was a big step. the party was fun. its run by all of the nurses at our NICU and the volunteers. they took pictures of all of the kids and then the parents filled out "where are they now" papers and they are putting them in binders for all the the NICU staff to look at. we purchased our tree today (yes its real) and now we're waiting for keiley to wake up so she can decorate.

I hope everyone has a great Holiday season no matter what you celebrate and we are thinking of all of you that are missing your Little ones and babies still in the hospital.
