I was a preemie myself born 7/12/53 at 7 months at birth
Debra K. Heath - 02:41pm Dec 7, 2004 ESTTo all of you on this website:
Hello - I was a preemie myself born on 7/12/53 with no sophisticated medical equipment as they have today. I was 1 pound / 11 oz. at birth and lucky enough to survive in those days as I was put in an incubator for 6 months (I came home at 5 pounds). They didn't even have a preemie clothes line for new borns back then and I had to be put in doll clothes! I know that we're not so pretty in appearance being so small (as I did look like a plucked chicken as my grandma did say) but we're a tough breed - a true miracle from the Lord above. We do make it in this world in spite our our disabilities (I have a congenital hearing loss in both ears). God Blessed You With Your Babies. Even though one's a preemie - one can have normal pregnancies as I've three children. A miracle from God was born: Debra K. Heath

For Debra
You are truly a miracle! You overcame even harder chances back in the day... ! (Don't worry I'm not too far behind you!) So now, in your "youthful mature" days, you are an inspiration for all of us NICU Mommies with our wonderful miracles. Thank you for sharing and I am very happy that you have lived to tell your wonderful story. Preemies are definitely a miraculous group of children! We are all blessed to have them and to know of them! All the best to you and your family this holiday season! Brenda & Benjamin (34 weeker born 12/24/99 with NEC)
