Mom to Tucker (27 weeker, 05/26/06) |

Hi Katie, In my opinion (now my son is almost 6) it is totally okay that you stayed. The little boy with the sniffles didn't touch her, right? Unfortunately, your daughter will get her first cold or sickness at some point, no matter how much you protect her Keep us updated, I guess only time will tell if Emma will get sick easily. Hugs, I know it is rough!! Leigh

Mom to Emilyn and Hailey (our 20 week angels) and Elim (our 38 week, full term miracle)! |

Hi Katie!
I agree with Leigh, I'm sure that it was ok that you stayed. Most likely it was something from the shots, my son always feels a bit punky after he gets shots too. From your other posts it sounds like you are extremely careful with what you expose her to, so if you thought in that moment it was fine, then it was! You are such an amazing momma to her, she's lucky to have you!
As hard as it is, try not to stress. Just keep an eye on her for acting a little off or like something is wrong. Big hugs!
Stacy

Hi Katie!!
My thought....
You can't keep your child in a bubble forever, I tried that, it didn't work!
Tori was back in the hospital a month after she came home with RSV. I did everything possible not to get germs near her. Big fat FAIL!!!!
Just this winter, bronchitis, pnuemonia, bronchitis, and now we have sniffles and the snots...green ones at that.
My brother once told me...Liz, what are you going to do, wait till she hits kindergarten then she's home from school every other week because she has no immunity. He's right!
Give yourself a break....you haven't failed at protecting her!!! I think you are doing a great job!!!
Love ya Katie and big hugs!!
Liz

I completely understand your worries!! I think I agree with the other girls. I also think that some of the sniffles might be due to the time of year! Pollen season rears it's ugly head in many ways. Best wishes to you and your sweet little one!

Abigail's Mom (29 weeks, 3/21/05) |

Katie- I understand your worry but the ladies are right. It is nice you stayed, probably had some fun and she will eventually get a cold. Abigail was sick a lot the first few years (she was in daycare) now she is never out of school. Good luck and you'll handle it when she does get sick.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone Emma Kate is doing well and talked to my cousin the next day and her little boy was just fine. I enjoyed myself; I'm starting to catch up with people that I miss so much from being in quarantine for the past several months. Emma Kate goes for her six month check up thursday and will be getting the third round of shots and we were fortunate enough to have gotten one last synagis last week. I know she will get sick and I do want her to build immunity; just want her to be a bit bigger; she is still such a tiny little girl Good to hear from everyone and cheers to spring

Come to ShareUnion 2012: It's the BEST weekend ever!!! |

Katie, it can be so hard to slowly let them out of the protective bubble we try to keep our kiddos in. Just know that it's OK to stay, no matter how hard you try Emma Kate will get sick and it will be through no fault of your own. Some germs are good, it helps build her immunity, germs in very low doses of course I know it's hard but take some time for yourself, it doesn't make you a bad mom it makes you a great mom!
