Baby Guss

gussmom2 - 06:08pm Apr 20, 2012 EST

My husband and I were very excited to be expecting a baby after 3 years of trying. We chose not to find out the sex of our baby because we loved the surprise with our first child 5 years earlier. Around 25 weeks I started to have bleeding and started contracting. was admitted to the hospital and given steriod shots and magnesium to stop labor from progressing. Thankfully a few days later I was sent home on bed rest. My daughter and I even moved in was my parents so I could have help. then at just 27 weeks 1 day I started the same contractions and bleeding. The doctors repeated the same medical steps as before but my labor progressed. So on July 22 2010 at 11:57 pm my beautiful baby boy, Jacob Timothy was born at just 2 lbs 3.7 oz and 13 1/2 inches long. At first my husband and i couldnt look at him. we just cried and prayed he would make it thru the night. After 70 days of ups and downs in the NICU Jacob Timothy was able to come home. Now you would never be able to tell he was a premature baby at 21months hes a healthy 25 lbs, growing and learning new things everyday. We couldnt imagine our lives without him.

Welcome to Share. Congratulations on baby Jacob! I'm so glad to know that he met his NICU goals and was able to come home to you. I know that magnesium drip can't be fun, but it sure does help. Yay for 25 pounds and growing:)
