Look closely at the second picture under her arm and you can see some of scars from her surgeries. I don't mind that though. She wouldn't be here without those scars.

BUSY BUSY

Jun 05, 2009 07:02am (EST)

We took Ansley for her 15 month check up yesterday and more shots. She weighed 18 pounds 4 ounces. She is getting very long and skinny! Her doctor said she looks great and she is developing just fine although she is still behind. That's to be expected. Yesterday was also me and my husbands 5th wedding anniversary, and tomorrow is my 33rd birthday. Wow I'm getting old! So it's been kinda busy arouind here. My husband got me the Sims 3 for my bday/anniversary. I'm a total Sims dork~It's an awesome game
Miss Ansley has been going through what I HOPE is just a phase! I call it the "screeching phase". She screeches at the top of her lungs all day long! I hope it is just because it is a new noise she has learned to make and she will get tired of it soon. It can make your head throb. She is also learned a few new things such as patty cake and peek a boo. When you say peek a boo, she will hold both hands up to her ears. Not exactly right, but soooo cute! She mimics us all the time now and any time she hears the front door open she says "heeyyy dadada" or some version of that! Also positively adorable. I hope everyone is doing good and enjying the summer

THE BATTLE OF THE SNOT SUCKER

May 26, 2009 07:07pm (EST)

Oh my my we have all been sick in our house! Ansley caught a little cold and passed it on to me and my husband. She is so very generous . We spent the weekend battling over every wipe of the nose. Do all kids detest the snot sucker and kleenex? We are all doing a bit better though. Hope everyone is doing good

TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF

May 19, 2009 08:34pm (EST)

I went to my sister's graduation in April (College grad at 35~WHOO HOO I'm so proud of her. Anyway...) They had a guest speaker that was so very boring, but one thing he said did get to me. He was talking about how there are many things in life you can change, but the most important is your attitude. You can chose to be happy or you can choose not to. So I am trying to wake up in the mornings and choose to be happy. It has worked so far. Will it work everyday? No probally not (PMS is my enemy) but if it helps why not right?
I have spent the last 15 months being sad, angry, and depressed with the occasional happy day thrown in there. You may ask what do I have to be unhappy about? My daughter was born with birth defects. Totally not fair. I took care of myself when I was pregnant. But ya know what? We made it through and look how well she is doing now.
I have been depressed and angry that my mom died when Ansley was only 5 weeks old. She waited a LONNNGGG time for a grandchild, and then she died before she could even enjoy her. But ya know what? She lived long enough to see her born and hold her.
I have been angry and sad about what my mom went through in her last days. The surgery that was supposed to help her, killed her. I watched her die. But ya know what? She didnt suffer endlessly like most cancer patients and I got to be with her in her last moments on earth.
I have been angry because I left my job to stay home with Ansley. That was not the plan. I didn't want to quit my job. But ya know what? I don't miss any of her milestones. I get to be with her and watch her grow up. That is precious.
So I'm working on changing me. I'll let ya know how it goes.

TEST RESULTS

May 12, 2009 08:34pm (EST)

We took Ansley back to the Nephrologist this morning to re-check her blood for the kidney function tests. They called me back this afternoon, and said the previous results were WRONG!!! Yipee There is nothing wrong with her kidney function~ It is working just fine! What a relief!!

WORRIED

May 08, 2009 09:11pm (EST)

Took Ansley to the Nephrologist (Kindney doc.) this morning. The visit was the easiest one so far, as far as the blood draw went. The nurse was awesome and got the blood she needed with only one stick. They told me to expect a call early next week with the results of the blood work. Well, they called me this afternoon and said that her creatinine level was high and they want me to bring her back on Tues. morning to redo the blood work in case there was a mistake. Her cretinine level has ALWAYS been a little low, she has been on a medication called Bicitra 3 times daily since she came home from the NICU. Now for this number to be high concerns me. They said that if the result that they got today is in fact correct, then her "kidney is not functioning as well as they would like". Seeing as she only has one kidney, this is scaring the daylights out of me. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe the test results are not accurate. Maybe this is something that can be controlled with a change in her medication. I'm worried though. With only one kidney, it needs to work.
