My granddaughter was born Oct. 24, 2006 at 33 weeks gestation by emergency C- Section. Her weight was 2 lbs 6 oz, 15 in. long. She was not on oxygen, just had an OG tube and IV. She spent one month in NICU at UAMS in Little Rock. We were able to bring her home the day before Thanksgiving at 3 lb 13 oz. What a great Thanksgiving present. Destany was the March of Dimes poster baby for Jefferson County 2006.

My granddaughter was born at 32 weeks weighing 2lbs 9oz. She was born at UAMS and stayed there a month before coming home for a weekend. She developed apnea at NEA hospital and was sent by helicopter to Children's hospital in Little Rock. She stayed there a month before getting to come home the end of June. She is our pride and joy. Elizabeth has started playing t-ball, she will start pre-school next year. My daughter is in end stage kidney failure which caused Elizabeth to have to be born early, to look at her you would never know she was a preemie She had great care and March of Dimes was a great help in the devolpement of the technology that was used in her care. Watching the work that was done on the other children, really leaves you in awe. We realize we were blessed by God and one of the lucky ones.
