Kansas here

Hello,
I'm from Kansas, now in Ottawa but have lived pretty much all over the metro (including merriam & shawnee) I would have loved to have this kind of technology back when I had my preemie, in 1991. She is now 15, turning 16 this year.. oh my! I seen this ad in a magazine today and came home to check it out.. never knew there were resources as this before. Very helpful!

Lorne (23 wk), Isaac (26 wk) and Sullivan (26 wk) - my four-year miracles!!

"JOCOgirl" - love it! I grew up in Overland Park/Lenexa/Shawnee and now DH and I live in Lee's Summit (MO).

This site is great - so much information and connections made. I LOVE it!

Are you participating in the WalkAmerica at Shawnee Mission Park this year?? Denise (weerock - above) is chairing the Family Teams committee and I am the ambassador mom this year for the area - please e-mail or IM one of us if you are interested in participating and need any help or questions answered!

Welcome to Share!

Hey JOCO girl! I'm one, myself! My preemie is now 15, too. What a coincidence. Glad you found this site. Wouldn't it have been great in 1991?

If you're planning on participating in Walk, Kara and Denise are great resources.

Welcome to Share!

New to Share

Hi - I'm pretty new to share. I lost my Hannah on January 23rd. She was stillborn due to a cord accident. This site has really helped so far - I'm so glad I found it. Anyway it doesn't look like anyone has posted in this folder for a while so I thought I'd give it a try. I live in Olathe, KS and was wondering if anyone was participating in any local walks for the Walk for Babies? I would love to join a team if there are any out there. I'm not familiar with how it works but I don't know that I have the energy to start up my own team at the moment.

    Re: New to Share

Welcome to Share. I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter, Hannah.

I live in Lee's Summit, but with the exception of a few years in Milwaukee, have lived on the KS side of the metro my entire single life. I went to SM West - my boys were born at Research.

As for March for Babies - I am excited you are wanting to participate!! The walk this year is Sunday, May 4th at the new KC Power and and Light District downtown. It is our first year down there and it is going to be SO cool! You can sign up at http://www.marchforbabies.org and put in your zip code to find walk closest to you (Greater Kansas).

There is a family team rally this coming Saturday, February 23rd from 8-10 a.m. at T-Rex at The Legends. There will be dozens of families who have experienced the NICU, loss, prematurity or are simply celebrating their healthy baby. If you can make it - please let me know!!

Even if you are the only person on your "team" - starting a family "team" will connect you with other NICU families in the area. The absolute only thing you do differently that you wouldn't do if you were walking on another team or as an individual is to name your "team". You can sign up here - just put in your name and information.

I am the new Family Teams specialist in Kansas City - my sole job is to help family teams with March for Babies - so please e-mail me if there is anything at all I can do to help! Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do to help.

    Take care, welcome to Share!!
    Kara

    Fairly new here

Hi to everyone. I have been on share for a week or so now and it has been an amazing site for me. I felt lost when my son was in the NICU and everyone here has helped me find myself. I am still having a hard time readjusting, but in time i'm sure it will come. I live in NW Kansas and a mother to 3 wonderful kids. 2 daughters Morgan-4, and Hayden-18 months. 1 son Dylan-4 weeks (my NICU baby)
