twins in 12 daystwinsmomma96 - 12:02am Aug 13, 2006 ESTtwins born 12 days apartMy name is Heather Nesbitt, ten years ago at the age of twenty-five, I found out at 9 1/2 weeks that I was carrying twins with an expected due date of September 4, 1996. Well, everything was going fine, they were growing and maturirng normally, when after attending a doctor's appointment, about 28 weeks, my membranes ruptured(June 17, 1996), I arrived at the hospital in preterm labor, my ob immediately admitted me to the hospital, while placing me on bed rest and trying to stop my labor with magnisum sulfate and injections to mature their lungs, while exactly five days after that first admission to the hospital, at 29 weeks, I gave birth to my first born son, Dylan Scott, weighing only 2lbs,10 1/2ozs., after his birth the doctors' decided it was better to allow his twin to have better chance of survival if he remained in utero awhile longer, they originally were hoping for a baby born at term, but at 31 weeks, my second twin son, Chase David, was born weighing in at 3lbs.,7ozs., exactly 12 days after his brother.
Dylan remained in the NICU for two months, coming home at on August 19, 1996, weighing in at 6lbs,14ozs. While Chase come home from the hospital exactly two weeks after he was born weighing in at 4lbs,5ozs. It's been a long 10 years but after those first years of obstacles, they are happy and healthy 4th graders.

Before "Share": I never realized this was at all possible. Then reading Kara's story (and yes I read it...
Re: Before "Share"
Yes, believe it or not! It is more common then most people realize, I even have parents with children in the twins' classes that don't really believe me either, but once I explain it to them they realize that its possible and they think that its the neatest thing they ever heard of.

Neat story
I had heard of this happening but I still think it's cool. Funny that you have another one the same age.
I always joke that had I gotten pregnant right after Riley was born, chances are she could have had a sibling about 6 months younger than her. Yes, I have a sick sense of humor.

Re: Neat story
YEAH! sometimes its a good thing, but usually in school it makes it hard to juggle between their classrooms during their conferences and sometimes between other activies as well, so most people think that they're triplets, but actually they're not !
the younger one is taller than the twins, so people with he's older when he's actually younger. it wasn't planned for them to be that close, my youngest son was an oops!,but i 'm kind of glad that they were close sometimes because they all weaned of bottles at the same time and were pottytrained at the same time. so that turned out to be a good thing.
thanks for your interest

Thank you for sharing your incredible story. It's so encouraging to hear, that despite a difficult start, Chase, and Dylan are doing well today.
You and your boys are an inspiration to those of us with younger preemies. My twin girls are 5 years old, and it's not often that I hear of success such as yours. Thank you for sharing your story.
Welcome to Share,
Karri

Re: twins in 12 days
thank you, and don't worry those first five years maybe rocky but in the end it'll seem like a far away time, Dylan and Chase excel in different ways too, so that is a good thing too. i'm also the mother of four, a twelve year old daughter Arianna(full term), Dylan(a 29wker) & Chase(a 31wker), and Cameron(36wker)9 years.
here's to you and your family!

Triplets in 2 days
Welcome to Share! It is fun to hear about another mother of multiples who had her babies on different days!
My son Kai (25 weeker) was born on a Thursday and the doctors hoped the other two babies would stay put for another month or two. But they decided to join their brother, and just two days later Boston and London were born.
