Brain Bleed
Jace's Mommy - 12:25am Dec 4, 2009 ESTI just found out today my son Avery has a grade 3 brain bleed on one side and a grade 2 on the other.
My first son didn't have any brain bleeds so I am new to all of this.
I guess I'm curious if anybody else's baby has had that high of a grade. I'm just really scared and his Doctor seems like he doesn't want to give me a straight answer. Does this mean he will more than likely have learning and physical disabilities?
No matter what I will love my son with all my heart I just want to know why his future looks like.

Grade 3 bleed
My cousin just had a baby boy with a grade 3 brain bleed, and she shared the entire experience on a website called Caring Bridge, I think, which I would reccommend if you are trying to keep lots of family updated but don't want the hassle of calling or emailing so many people. Anyway, he ended up being born about 3 weeks early, c-section and had a surgery to place a shunt in his brain about a day after he was born. I think the shunt stays in forever, to help drain fluid. He is doing amazing. Actually just went home a few days ago, so he was in the hospital for about 10 days or so. They don't know if he will have developmental delays or not- time will tell that. But she has been trying to get pregnant for 7 years, so she is just happy to have a healthy baby again! It is hard to wait and see, but I was even nervous with the delays with my daughter, and she was just 11 weeks early, no surgery or brain bleeds or anything. Good luck to you and your little one, and keep us posted on the progress!
