Britney Tinklin - Emergency C-Section

btinklin - 06:53pm Mar 16, 2011 EST

I was 31 weeks pregnant when my normal physician noticed a major fluxuation in my blood pressure readings. He was concerned I had pre-eclampsia, and decided that I needed to consult with an OBGYN in Topeka. The next week I visited Dr. Bonebrake and was informed that I probably had 2-4 more weeks before I would be forced to give birth. He admitted me into the Stormont-Vale Birthplace and from there events went crazy. For days we tried to keep my blood pressure under control, medicine, no stimulation, nothing was working. Then, on the 8th he decided to induce me. I was 33 weeks pregnant that day. All through the night I was getting closer and closer to birth, good signs. Until a little afternoon the next day, when my vision left me. All I could see was a Kalidascope effect. they gave me my epideral at 4cm, and I took a well needed nap. As soon as I awoke, my mother reminded me to remove my tongue ring. I did, and instantly I noticed something was wrong. My finger was convulsing all on it's own... then darkness. I had had a Gran Maul Seizure at 5cm dialated. Next thing I remember I was waking up in ICU, confused and disoriented. They had to take my little girl through c-section. I was stunned. I mean, who thinks that'll happen?! Now I am grateful, for My daughter is doing amazing and I'm still here. Everyday is a blessing and I can never take it for granit again.

Mom to Donovyn (32 weeker), Tristyn (34 weeker), and Naethyn (30 weeker born sleeping)

Welcome to Share. I am so glad to know that your little girl is doing well and that you too made it through. I am happy to know that your physician caught it and referred you to someone who was more knowledgeable. I had severe pre-E with all three of my babies and it's super scary! Having a competent OB who is watching out for you and your little one is key.

Thank you for sharing your story,

Lindsay
