I think you should decorate the cake. Even if it's not perfect, what kid doesn't love a cake that mommy made for her or him? I come from a cake decorating family, so maybe I'm biased.

I certainly understand the feeling of being on guard. Even when we are, though, we're still not prepared for that dam of emotions.

You have not only survived, but thrived! What a wonderful mom you are to Elim in addition to the girls and what an inspiration and a well of strength for all those who visit Share.

I would decorate it myself too it would be peaceful and fun please don't be hard on yourself I know it means alot as i also will be coming up on Jannelles 2nd bday but you will do a great job and would love to see pics:)
I didn't think i would survive either but here we are many of us standing with each other without us we would be most alone and lost so I am very Thankful not that we have to be here but that we are here for another..

Decorate the cake -- who cares if it's not perfect? It will be done out of love for your girls -- and that's all that matters.

I also vote for decorating!!! I think your girls will love it and will be looking down on you and enjoy watching their mommy make it.
I'm glad you are feeling well but I also understand that brewing feeling. I have been having it lately as well. I think of my first few months and how acute the grief was and how far I have come in this healing process. The grief never leaves only evolves

Thank you all! The cake, and all the things to make it pretty should be on their way soon, I went ahead and ordered it! I'm thinking I will have their party the Saturday before their birthday since their birthday is on a Wednesday anyway. That way, my brother and his family can come as well as giving my husband's family a chance to make it out.

I think decorating their cake is a great idea, and a wonderful way to pour your love for them into something. I hope your brother is able to stay for the party!

What a great decision, to celebrate it before, so your brother can be with you....... about the cake do it the way you feel it is right........ You are a great mom, and don't feel bad if you don't feel the way you did with the first birthdays of your angels, it is pretty normal, you will always love them and remember them, but somehow the pain subdue with the years, just the love remains......
