Hi Krista,
Oh that's great that your mom lives right near you. I hope your husband enjoyed giving the baby a bath, that was always my DH's favorite thing to do, almost 6 years later, and he is still in charge of bath time.

Hi,
Welcome to Share and congratulations on the birth of your son. When we had our daughter we had recently moved to the area and although people kept offering help, I was reluctant to take them up on it. Don't be, if people offer to watch your daughter while you go see your son, take them up on it. Also, don't be shy about calling the nurses for updates. I know they get busy but they also like to hear from the moms.
I hope the bath went well. We can't wait to see the pics.
Ellen

Hi Shelle! Welcome to Share and know you are in the right place.
My daughter was born at 26wks 1lb,1oz--11inches.
We had a 109 day NICU stay.
I struggled with attachment to the point I missed 1 of the 109 days due to a freak blizzard that shut down all of the parkways to get into the city. Never in my life have I seen all of the parkways shut down in Pittsburgh....and of all of the times it happened, my daughter is in the hospital an hour away.
I called about 10 times that day.
I'm very interested to know how your daughter is doing so keep us updated.
Congratulations on your little girl!
Love and Light,
Liz

Welcome to Share! It's so hard to sit in the NICU and watch your baby when they seem so helpless.
But it's so amazing to watch them grow and know what little fighters they are.
Best wishes for a easy nicu experience!

Don't worry. Everything you are feeling is normal. I don't have the knowledge on having other children while being in the NICU, however, we were there for over 4 months, and I literally cried for months straight. Everyday. It's okay. Remember it is okay to celebrate those little victories as well!! We don't want to dwell on the past(the last hour or yesterday).
Love and Light, and still praying for you and yoru family,
Liz

Hi Lizzy, Welcome to Share! Please remember that any emotions you have right now are fine, you really will experience it all on the NICU roller coaster....fear, joy, anger, sadness.... So it makes sense that you would be so happy when she does well and then feel so sad when she has a bad day. And trying to not feel guilty is so hard for moms! I hope your baby girl is doing well, keep us updated! Leigh

Hi Amiee!
I just had my baby girl Kennedy last Thursday Oct.18th.; weighing 1.8pds. She was due in January. I am going through the same emotions when I visit her in the NICU. Its so hard to see our little ones that way! I came on this site to hopefully connect with other mothers going through the same experiences. I hope we can continue to keep each other updated on our babies! Praying for your little one Crystal J.

Crystal, hello and welcome to Share!
Congratulations on Kennedy! I too had a baby girl, Tori. She weighed 1.1pounds. Came in September was due after Christmas in December.
I'm here to give you hope! Tori is now 3 years old. Developmentally and physically all together. Miracles to happen and I'm sure Kennedy is one of them!
Please, keep coming back! Spill your emotions here, we will help as much as possible.
We'll be praying for sweet Kennedy,
Love and Light,
Liz

I had my twin boys on November 20 th 2012 at 24 weeks and 5 days gestation. Both were 1 lb 4 oz. i feel your pain. I also have that constant fear of something going on. The emotional roller coaster of the nicu is a big challenge. I lost one of my boys after 31 days and you can only images my anxiety level is 1000000 higher now. Every time Ian is twitching I freak out.
These little guys have so much strength. I just try to remember myself to stay strong for my baby boy since he is fighting for us. The worst part is the feeling of being helpless. As a parent you want nothing more than protect and help your child but you have to trust a complete stranger with the care of your child. I have grown very close to the nurses, nurse practitioners and drs. They keep me informed with every tiny change. I made it clear that I want to be notified about everything. This helped me to feel a little bit at ease.
Stay strong and keep us informed
Isabelle

=congrats i had my litle girl 26 weeks and 5 days serious infections that were never concluded, severe lung disease many blood transfusions. now being supported on a oscillating ventilator. we have been in for 37 days and maybe for many more. but i do know is that it will be hard and scary and some days feel like you can breathe. but it will get better, you will find your peace and just have to hold onto hope. when they hold your finger and open their eyes, it's magical. just being there brings them so much comfort. and it's ok to feel everything and all at once, just ask questions, even if they feel stupid it is your baby and miracles happen everyday. keep us posted.

Hi Isabelle, How is Ian doing??
Hi Alexandrasmom, I hope your little girl is doing well. You are right, anytime those little babies open their eyes and/or grab your finger, it is magical!
My son was also on the oscillating vent for weeks, he was born at 27 weeks gestation.
Keep us updated!
