Emma

allened2 - 03:27am Nov 8, 2011 EST

It began with my 20wk ultrasound....It's a GIRL!!! Hours later received a call saying you need to be admitted to the hospital you have a shorten cervix? Ok
So I began my journey on Bedrest in and out of the hospital...cervix keeps shortening...which means pre-term labor. My water broke in the hospital...with in 24 hrs Emma was born via emergency c-section. She lived that dayl for 12 hrs on life support...given lots of blood, and still at the end of the day, we took her off life support....she died in my arms. I had a healthy previous pregnancy...Love my 2yr old Izzy!!!

My life has changed, and no longer take for granted things that can be taken away so fast!

Heartbroken

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost Emma. I had a similar experience. Ultrasound at 18 weeks looked great. An ultrasound at 20 to get some views they missed showed a shortened cervix and dilation. My twin sons were born a few days later. Both died less than an hour after being born.

It's such a difficult road to travel. I can't imagine trying to care for another young child while grieving the death of an infant. I'm glad you've found Share, although I wish you didn't have to be here. I hope you find some comfort among those of us who understand the horrible road you are traveling.

Wishing you hope and healing,
Shannon

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your precious baby girl, Emma. Nothing can prepare a mom for this journey, but being on this website, surrounded by other parents who get it, can help ease your pain. Thank you for sharing your story and please continue to do so if you feel it will help you heal.

Megan.

Mom to Donovyn (32 weeker), Tristyn (34 weeker), and Naethyn (30 weeker born sleeping)

Welcome to Share. I am so sorry that you found us this way. I lost a son at 30 weeks born sleeping. I had two other young kiddos at home at the time. It was and still is difficult, but they give me the strength and courage to get up every morning and do my best. I hope that Izzy is giving you that as well. Thank you for sharing your story and know that we are holding Emma in our hearts and our thoughts and you travel your "new normal."

I love the photo of Emma. My son Brian died in my arms too, after a horrific month in the NICU. The one and only time I held him. I then had to care for his twin isabella and keep moving forward although I wanted to stop and die. You can do it too. Have faith in yourself.
