Sam - so true. We can't control other people, can't control everything that happens, but we can control how we react. Go you!
Katie - YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!
Lindsay - I love the idea of doing something for yourself each day. I'm a stress case too.
Jess - one day at a time. I'm trying to focus on one healthy thing a week ie this week is to get back into drinking 80 ozs of water a day. Right now, I feel like a drowned rat. lol

Donna - Whew, that is a lot of H20:) I know I should be drinking more. I'm going to try. Before I go and grab a sweet drink, I'll make myself drink the water first. I've kind of been using that to fight some hunger/boredom too. I really like the recipe thing. My husband would love it if I started on that track.
Katie - Sounds like a plan:)
Sam - This one should be on my list too.
Jess - I know what you mean about the rear in gear. I'm going to "try" and walk in the afternoons while my kiddo is at his second pre-school. I have an hour to do that before I pick up the oldest from school. Only the clothes will tell . . .

Lindsay - it is a lot of water, but it does help with everything else. I noticed when I'm not hydrated enough, my knees hurt more. Supposed to keep your skin clearer and younger looking as well. You go on the walking - just remember, it takes three weeks to create a new habit. My husband will be excited about the new recipe thing too. I have my three or four fallback meals and I'm even bored with those.

Well, originally I would have said lose weight and get healthier, but I'm doing pretty well on that right now. (almost 15 lbs down and dropped my insulin use about 35%). So here are my resolutions:
1) Learn to cook healthier meals
2) Finally put together a will including guardianship for the kids
3) Purge things I don't use from my house! And now you've all guilted me into drinking more water - nice job.

This is why I gained 20 pounds AFTER we had Tori. Ha!
Keep up the good work ladies on your resolutions. Me...not so good. The healthier lifestyle, yes. Gym 4 times a week, not so good.

Wow, you all are impressing me with the resolutions!! I was just going to say "work out", haha. I really do need to: 1. Work out at the gym 3-4 times per week, it really helps me to have this "me" time and it helps me de-stress.
2. Drink more water, and drink less soda and coffee.
3. Don't stress out about things I can't control (but I can control everything, right? )
4. Pay off credit cards this year.
5. Live in the moment more often, especially to appreciate special moments with Tucker. Jackie, congrats on the weight loss! That is great! Good luck to all of you in 2012! Leigh

Great goals, Leigh!!!
Liz - yep, stress eating is no bueno. I just need to remind myself that failing one day or one meal doesn't mean to give up entirely. And I know y'all are yelling at me for even thinking about weight, but trust me, the older you get, the harder it is. And I....AM......OLD!

Leigh - Sounds like some great goals girl! I really like the one about living in the moment more and enjoying those special ones. I so need to do this more. Yay, on the gym 3-4 times/wk. You go girl!
Jackie - That's wonderful! Congrats on the pounds lost:) Don't know if you're into the whole Craigslist thing, Ladies Loop, or Plum District, but defintely try to get a few bucks for yours stuff before donating.
Donna - I noticed that my skin is clearer when I drink more water too. We've really cut back on soda at our house over the past year. I guess if we just stop buying it, we have no choice but drink better things. I've heard that if one cuts soda altogether, one can lost up to 10 pounds pretty quickly (Dr. Oz).

Lindsay - I'd heard that about soda too. I've always been a Diet Coke person, which doesn't have the sugar, but I've heard bad stuff about the chemicals and that it actually makes you crave sweet stuff. Gah!! I used to have one or two cans a day. Now it's rare if I have that much in a week. I get my caffeine fix via coffee in the a.m.
An older gentleman from my gym was in Costco the same time as me this morning. He actually asked me how much weight I've lost. HAH!! I told him I haven't lost a pound (true). Must just be shifting it around again. lol
Keep it up ladies!! We're almost through the first week of 2012. How's everyone doing?

Ok so this year I am going to TRY and not care so much what other people think for example I will book a trip for my family to enjoy and not worry about the comments my SIL will have to say about it because I didn't invite them along. Sounds a little selfish I know but I worry way to much about what I do and how others will comment on it! LOL
Sure eat better and got to the GYM I wish lol
xoxoxoxoxoxo
I really want to log in more to share this year I need the support of all of the amazing people here.

Come to ShareUnion 2012: It's the BEST weekend ever!!! |
|
|
OK, my goals are...
1. To hit my goal weight, and to stop beating myself up for not hitting it already. I joined Weight Watchers a year ago and haven't lost as much as I would have liked, but I'm still down overall and that is all that matters...
2. To go to the gym 5x week, I'm doing pretty good with this so far
3. To make more time for Matt and I as a couple rather than just as parents
4. To get our finances into a place where we can afford to move into a bigger hosue
And finally...
5. To get pregnant with baby #3 who will be a girl

Mom to Tucker (27 weeker, 05/26/06) |

Well, it is January 19th, how is everyone doing? I was keeping up with the gym visits until last week when Tucker had 5 days of eating therapy at home. I haven't been in a week and I am anxious to go back tomorrow night! I am still drinking a lot of water, and just one caffeinated beverage a day...so I am pretty much a zombie most days, man, I miss the caffeine! I am still stressing out about things I can't control, though I do find myself taking a deep breath and saying "it's going to be ok" more often. We are steadily paying off debt as DH works 7 days a week for a few months (crazy, right?) But...he needs about $4K of dental work (this is with insurance covering 50%!), so I think that will take priority over the credit cards... And I am loving time with Tucker, even after a full day of work and traffic, I come home to him and he is hilarious. I hope you all are somewhat sticking to your New Year's Plans! Leigh
