Could My baby be failing to thrive?
TSprouse0109 - 08:01pm Jan 18, 2012 ESTMy daughter was born With IUGR at 34 wks weighing 2lbs 9.9 oz. She was thriving alot in the NICU and was able to come home at 3wks 1 day old and she continued to gain weight until she hit 6lbs at 2 months old. Now she is 6 months old and weighs 10lbs 8 oz. Her neonatologist thinks she could have acid reflux and put her on Prilosec but that doesnt seem to be working because she still only eats maybe 19 oz a day If we are lucky. My daughter never seems to want her bottle and only eats maybe 3 oz a feeding. The doctors have us seeing a Pediatric GI this month but im so confused on what it could be. Can someone help me or offer advice because I am starting to feel like im doing something to make my daughter not grow.

Is it possible the erythromycin caused belly pain so she wanted to eat less? My son has been on it for the same reason, to help with gastric emptying and it always seems to have the reverse effect because it causes belly pain and then he doesn't want to eat. Good luck.
