Need fast answer
Katie87 - 10:09pm Jan 19, 2012 ESTHello all- I have talked to my pediatrician about my preemie being around a woodstove. We are visiting my inlaws tonight for dinner and they have one. I have asked them to turn it off and she said she would clean it out. I then talk to my worry wart mother as I am also a worrier and she makes me nervous again worrying about ash and particles getting into her lungs... With it being off and us being in a different room don't you think it would be ok? ahhh!!!! I have a hard enough time letting them be around her as it is. It's hard for some reason to let anyone but my immediate family be near her; I don't know why. My mom keeps a really clean house and it's a fairly new house and I guess I worry because my inlaws are in an older house and with a lot of stuff in it... This makes me sound really bad they are awesome wonderful people. Help; I need some reassurance in the next hour; lol!!!

I would say that as long as her pediatrician gave you the go ahead to go, then she'll be fine. If he was leery of it then I'd worry more. Enjoy your visit, I know your in laws will!

I agree with the other moms. If her pediatrician thinks it is safe, I would go ahead with the visit.
Have tons of fun!

Thanks All- We went and had a good time; although I remained tense due to nervousness of her being around his family. His mom works in an elementary school cafeteria... She of course showered and changed clothes before we came but I can't help but to be nervous for her to hold her. I also put little mittens on her so they wouldn't touch her hands but before I could one of his sisters did so I wiped her down. I feel bad; I guess I'm just more in a comfort zone with my own family; even though I love his family too. The woodstove I didn't smell it really and it was shut off so that wasn't a worry. Am I ever going to be able to relax? I keep saying I'm so looking forward to spring but I begin to wonder if I will relax any then?

I was like that too with my in laws and my son was a full termer! I was much more protective of him when they were around then when it was just my family, still am! Totally normal I think. It does get a better as time goes on though.

I was the same way with my in-laws as you are. We can't all be abnormal right? So it must be normal
It's always better to be extra cautious than them to pick something up from being hap hazard.
